My 2002 Super Duty F250 Diesel 4x4 is pretty simple, turn the switch to 4x4, lock the front hubs, and you’re good to go. The 2024 Maverick I ordered will have AWD, which I’m not real sure of. I ran across this 2022 youtube video which is very imformative, at least for me. Just thought I’d throw it out there for those like me that are not clear on how it works.

The cool thing is that one of the optional screens in your gauge cluster shows all 4 wheels and which are getting tower through the various systems. Basically the front wheels get side to side traction with a brake based system. The rear get power sent the moment there is any different action in the front wheel speeds outside of simple turn radius differences. Thirdly the rear splits power between its wheels through another brake based system. Unless you have a Tremor in which case the rear power sender is better and stronger and you have a rear differential with a really good electronic/clutch version of a old school diff locker.

Here's an older video, Mav vs Sube because the comparison has been discussed here before.
The interesting section relevant to this thread is at 15:45 stress test. It takes you through all the FX4 drive modes on a hill climb. Funny bit at the end where he theorizes what if Ford added the twin clutch RDU to the Mav, he says "Subaru watch out" lol

Yeah on a bunch of the videos it seems even the standard Mav handily moves better than the Subaru. But the Tremor just climbs away.
