As promised, here's the parts list for the USB module and wiring parts to install into your AkroHD cubby insert, which adds two USB charging ports to your Maverick.
NOTE: Molex no longer offers the 2 port module with one Type A and one Type C. I will continue to look for a source and update the list if I should find it UPDATE: I found the Molex part #795405067 (dual port USB Type A and Type C) at Mouser.com for $48.51 each: it also uses the same connector as found in Item 2, below.
https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Molex/79540-5067?qs=wnTfsH77Xs7SC2h5Ofd/uQ==

www.Newark.com (for USB Module, connector and pins required for wiring to your fusebox):

Item 1, Qty: 1 Molex USB Charger Receptacle, 2 port, Type A: Molex part #68532-4462 (Newark part #91AH5661) Current price: $21.62 each
Item 2, Qty: 1 Connector for above: Molex part #34791-0040 (Newark part #62W3380) (Note: use pins 1 and 4: 1 is power, 4 is ground. pins 2 & 3 are not used)
Current price: 85 cents each
Item 3, Qty: 2 Contact socket (female pins) for connector: crimp style: 560023-0444 (2 required for kit: I suggest ordering 6, as they are tiny and easy to damage if you don't have a crimping tool and are using needle-nose pliers) Current price: 2 cents each
[I had a crimp-on ring terminal and a spool of wire already on hand: hardware stores typically have bulk wire in a variety of gauges]
Item 4, Qty: 1 48" two wire solid insulated cable, 24 AWG (to crimp onto contact sockets)
Item 5, Qty: 1 crimp-style Ring terminal (to ground USB module to chassis)
www.Amazon.com

Item 6, Qty: 1 Micro Blade Fuse Holder with 10A, 20A Fuse (only one needed but the smallest quantity found on Amazon was 2). Current price: $5.99
TOTAL COST: approximately $29 (not including $11 shipping from Newark's site: as a Prime member my Amazon shipping was free), add $26.89 if you're installing the module from Mouser.com

Question: can we tap into this, or have an "extension cord from here to the back of the Molex so that Apple car Play would work directly from the phone?

Secondly, I encourage everyone to also use shrink wrap in those connectors: just my 2¢

Hopefully someone here can answer your Apple question...I'm a diehard Android user myself. The shrink wrapping of all connections is a great idea which I do too, but the installation video is not from me. 👀

I've been considering something along these lines, but incorporating wireless Android Auto into the "cubby" while I'm in there.
I have a phone holder with wireless charging so it shouldn't be to hard...

These USB modules from Molex are charge only, there are no provisions for data. So there isn't a way to enable wired AA or CarPlay through them.

Minor error there. The crimp contacts you specify is rated for 0.13mm^2 conductors which translates to 26AWG. For the 24AWG wire you mention later in your list, you want 560023-0423 as it is rated for 0.22mm^2 conductors which translates to about 24AWG. (If you look at the description you see that the -0444 are S-GRIP, but the -0423 are M-GRIP. See page 2 of this datasheet for a table of the grip codes.)

Also, speaking of wire, I wouldn't use solid conductor. Crimp connections mate better with stranded conductors.

Here is my list that I just purchased from Mouser (to compliment your list from Newark, above). The crimpers in my list are the least expensive ones that I found for these Molex CTX50 contacts (the pair that the Molex datasheets kept trying to get me to order are over $1K). I ordered 2 of the connectors just incase I accidentally break or loose one. I ordered 10 of the contacts for the same reason you suggested 6, but 10 gets to the next price break. I had trouble finding wire reasonably priced. I didn't need to order shielded wire, but it was less expensive than the non-shielded, and the smallest spool I could get from Mouser was a 100' spool. I tried pricing out shorter spools of hook-up wire plus a braided sleeve and that was comparable in price (if not slightly higher in price) than this wire that I found. Note, I didn't order a ring lug, but splice, or the fuse tap from Mouser. I have ring lugs knocking around in my own inventory, and I'm going to Amazon for the fuse tap which comes with a but splice.

EDIT: Please ignore my advice about what I thought were crimpers. The part number is NOT a crimper, rather is only a small part for a crimper. I've RMA'ed it. See a reply, below, for options for a crimper.

Good stuff there!
I ended up soldering some 18 gauge trailer wire I had left over and then crimped.
Molex has a confusing variety of pins for the connector and I picked one that fit. Shoot, you could just slide them onto pins 1 and 4 on the back of the module and secure the wire to the cubby insert...it's not like I intend to remove the cubby insert frequently. Still, I appreciate the info for sure.

The 200128-4375 may not be the crimper itself.
Ford Maverick AkroHD cubby insert USB module project: parts and vendors list (as of March 2024) Molex Hand Crimp Frame (Short) 63816-0000

Molex's 63811-1000 Hand Crimp Tool for Field Repair, 14-24 AWG does a pretty good job on terminals, Molex, TE Connectivity ~$72
iCrimp SN-2549 Ratcheting Wire Crimping Tool might work on the CTX50.

It looks like the high priced ones for CTX50 unsealed terminals are like:
Hand Crimp Tool for CTX50 Unsealed Blade Small Grip Crimp Terminals, 0.13mm² FLR2X Wire
Part Number: 2133092700, Engineering/Old PN: 213309-2700, Active

Yeah, I discovered this the hard way. It was only the locater part (holds the connector in the crimper to align with the punch and anvils). I just initiated an RMA with Mouser.

Thanx for the suggestions for alternate crimpers. I was going to ask if anyone had suggestions when I came to warn others to ignore my suggestion for the locator...

I ended up going with the iCrimp IW-3220M because of the linear movement of the crimping dies. Here are close up pictures of my first test crimp onto 24AWG wire. Not bad at all for a $25 crimper.

Now that I have all the parts (I received the AcroHD cubby insert today), I'll try to find some time this weekend after the rain stops to do the install.

Looks good, especially on the small terminals.
I got the cubby insert yesterday.
Adding it to my list after some mods on my other cars.

Nice crimp! The install should go pretty fast. Be careful with drilling the hole in the cubby: you don't want to pierce the HVAC ducting behind it.
If you want the ports to turn on and off with the ignition, go for the #3 (single) fuse in the block: the #1 and #2 are a single three-pronged fuse and I counted them both as one, which meant I plugged into the #4 position (which is always on), then realized the mistake and used the correct fuse port. It happens.

Thanx for the reminder. Yes, I'll want it ignition switched. As I recall AcroHD has a good install video that I'll be referencing.
