It’s been a long wait (381 days), not as long as some. Built Sept 4th, shipped on the 8th, so 4 weeks to make it on the “Midnight Train To Georgia”. Ordered for my grandson who will be 15 in Feb. Will be doing more driving lessons in the church parking lot, and subdivision. But now he can drive the Maverick. All is great, drove 54 miles home in Atlanta area traffic and ended up with 44.8 mpg. Small sample, but very pleased with seat comfort, visibility, interior fit and finish. Red Pepper XLT, Lux Pkg, Hybrid. Akins Ford in Winder, GA. Plan pricing accepted, no add-ons. Nice experience. Good luck to everyone waiting for your vehicle. This forum has been a great place to learn and share. Thanks to all.

But, it’s housed in my shop at my house. So, we get to drive it until he’s of driving age.

I guess the days are gone of young inexperienced drivers getting a well used car to learn on. Never had a new one until I could afford to buy one. I did the same thing with my kids and bought them used cars. I can only imagine a 15 year old with a new Mav. Lucky guy.

I have been a professional driving instructor for over 30+ years. Teaching high performance driving and racing, along with teen schools. My daughter went through 2 years of training prior to receiving her license. Granddaughter had a year and a half. She’s driving our used Ford Focus Electric. Now it’s his turn. It’s a crazy world out there, they need to be prepared. Thanks for your comment. Hope you’re enjoying your Hybrid.

Yeah I'm Jelolous too. In NJ you have to be 17 to get a licence. My first car was a used 64 Chevelle 283 with a 4 speed in 74. Paid 400 bucks for it. You always remember your first one.

Never got to drive new vehicles of any sort at 15, BUT did get to ride old suicide shift Harleys on Vermont dirt back roads having lived across the road from a small 60's era Harley dealer. Got my license summer of '65 and was immediately grandfathered a motorcycle endorsement to my license by the dealer. Could do those kind of things back then. Great times. Great memories. I hope your grandson will carry some great memories as well 60 years from now. (y) :ROFLMAO:

Very interesting history. My dad had a souped up 55 Chevy when I was 16. I thought I‘d get to drive it. No, he traded it in for a used 60 Corvair with an automatic 2 speed. Not even a 4 speed Monza
