Mods like this have been posted before and I looked at one of them for hints.
Post I looked at showing USB and power being added to the truck bed.
I went with just adding two 12v power ports. I could have added more but this will be all I will need.
I had 2 add on panels of different ports, USB, 12v, voltmeters, and switches.
I used these to harvest the parts for the 12v power ports.
I removed the driver side cubby as it is open from below and made the install easier. Both cubbies could have this done to them if you wanted.
I drilled two 1 1/8 holes (29mm) in the side of the cubby.
I wired up the power from the end of the bed.
I hooked up the wires to the 12v power points but to put the cubby back in its place the ports had to be slid back in to the cubby and then once the cubby was installed I pushed them in to the side. The wires were flexible and I left them atached and they did not stop the cubby from being put back in the side of the bed.
I did have to reach up from under the truck to screw in the rings that hold the 12v outlets in place from the back. It was a tight fit to reach them.
Here is a close up of the two power ports.
Also from a little bit back more, sorry it came out so dark.
I tested them and they both work.
I have a 12v powered ice chest I will be using with these. The ice chest has a USB power output and I have a usb power adapter that I could plug in to one of them as well, but I have nothing that needs USB power yet so to keep it simple I went with just the two 12v outs. I could have easily drilled some more holes and added other options.
Power turns on with the key and stays on some time after shutdown but I am not sure how long.
I want to add some sort of light but I want that to be powered from the interior lights or top mount bed light.
