Yesterday Karen and I went to Jamesport, MO to visit the Amish culture and businesses there. A beautiful day after a cold front came through. Stayed off I-35 going there. Took US 69 to Gallatin, MO then State Route 6 to Jamesport. Since MO passed a fuel tax increase, a lot of rural roads that get heavier traffic, are being FIXED and widened. Lots of nice smooth asphalt with lots of fun curves. Heres a dash pic for the outbound trip.

After eating at a Amish buffet, we strolled around the business district and went into several shops. Went to an Amish Salvage place. Not cheap but had good brands.

On the way back we took I-35 south after going to Winston, MO. I wonder if it is named after the cigarette brand, as this area still produces lots of tobacco for premium cigars. Had a light northerly tailwind and got great mileage for running 70-75 mph.

No big deal, on a full tank never driving faster than 45 mph went over 700 miles on 13.8 gallons-hybrid

OP: Your not-uncommon mileage is one of the reasons I ordered and waited for a Hybrid. I did not even consider a turbo. Other reasons are:
  • The lack of a schizo torque converter/clutch multi-speed transmission
  • No aggravating stop-start silliness at red lights.
  • The buttery smooth shift-free driving experience of an eCVT
  • Extended mileage between oil/filter changes
  • Extended mileage between brake pad & rotor replacement
Of course, there are valid reasons for opting for the turbo, just as there are for choosing an F-150, etc. But fortunately, I do not need any of them.

So far, other than software updates and a dash rattle, I've driven 15,000 trouble-free miles and still enjoy my truck. I had planned to order a '25 model, but cannot abide the dumpster fire of the front-end re-style. Ford must've really pissed off someone in the design dept.

If my figures for 60 to 70 mph are so so what are your numbers at 60 to 70 mph with the evidence that I have presented
