People have asked me what my tent was because they cannot find one small enough to fit inside the bed. Mine is a Tepui Ayer 2 Person Roof Top Tent. I found it used, on Facebook Marketplace, for $300. If someone here is still looking for one, I just happened to came across one that looks just like mine, on Marketplace, used, and with a worn cover, for $500.

If you are putting it under the tonneau cover, like me, you do not need the cover that comes with the tent. I am NOT the one selling this. I just stumbled across someone else's post on Facebook Marketplace https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/3808828192756212/

If someone here decides to buy this tent, I'll be glad to share with you more details on how I did mine. Here is a little video I made setting up mine

That is super slick. Looks like you have a tonneau that sits on top of your rails. Is it safe to assume that the tent won’t fit with a tonneau that sits between the rails?

For this tent, you can't use a typical hard tonneau cover. You're going to have to have either a roll up cover or one of those nicer hard covers that fold up almost all the way to the back window. If you do have a tonneau cover that does fold up pretty close to the back window, and does sit below the bed rails, you could just take off the ladder. Kind of nice as a third hand while you are setting up the tent, but it's not really needed to get in and out of the tent. It's kind of awkward and I found it easier to get in and out without even using the ladder. The slide out drawer below is made out of 2x6s and a half inch sheet of plywood. You may be able to gain a little more clearance by ripping those 2x6s down to 5 in or something. I haven't done that because I like that the tent does not touch the top of the wheel wells when the drawer is pushed all the way in. There are aluminum mounting rails under the tent. With the regular 2x6s that I used, no part of the tent is touching the bed while I'm transporting it. While the tent is set up, one of the aluminum mounting rails fits perfectly in that little groove on top of the wheel well.

Great video. Are these so you don't have to sleep on the ground? Where does all the other stuff go need for camping?

Great video. Are these so you don't have to sleep on the ground? Where does all the other stuff go need for camping?
It is mostly about quick setup and takedown and sleeping comfortably. I could be ready to sleep or ready to drive in about 10 minutes. Also, no air mattresses. I have a 4-in memory foam mattress in there, my sleeping bag, and my pillows. I do not have to take any of that out of there to fold it up. It is a four season tent. Mine has a pretty heavy duty canvas rainfly that I can sleep in the rain or the snow or very windy conditions. As for where everything goes, in the drawer is everything that's okay if it gets dusty, recovery gear, tools, chair, porta potty. I do not cook on my camping trips. So there's no need for dishwater or propane or stove or anything like that. In the backseat, I have my Anker power station, my BougeRV refrigerator and small 120v air compressor. The reason why I wanted it in the bed and under the tonneau cover was to keep the center of gravity low and to not add more wind resistance. I do off-road my truck and I wanted to avoid putting something so heavy, so high.

Really interested in doing this.

Is the tent sitting on the "wheel wells"?

Also is the tent anchored at the front or fastened down somehow?

Really like what you have done and looking at doing the same.

Yes. It sits on the wheel wells but only when the tent is set up. While the tent is being transported, that big drawer is pushed all the way in, and it hovers just barely above the wheel wells. It sits entirely on the drawer and it is held in only by those two straps. I do not have it bolted to the wheel wells. The reason being that the tent is only about 1/8 of an inch narrower than the tailgate latch pins. When folding the tent back up, You need to be able to rotate and wiggle the tent a little bit to get where canvas part of the tent attaches to the frame around those latch pins. While set up, the tent is so heavy that I don't worry about it being a problem in any kind of wind. It is just gravity holding it in the bed when the tent is set up.

Late to the game. Nice Shaver and a Maverick. We like Dorabelle. We just picked up our 26 XL Hybrid this week.
