Tim is out posting the latest news that was just put out by Ford today on the GPF trucks that are going to CARB states. If you don't live in a CARB state you can't order it with the GPF package now while they sort out supply chain issues.

What is GPF?

A GPF is a a Gasoline Particulate Filter, think of it something like a diesel uses a DPF to capture particulate matter and then dumps fuel in it to burn off the material. These are coming to gasoline vehicles starting with the CARB states first. Sounds like they have to be in place in CARB states starting in 2026.

You are correct. They start building the GPF equipped trucks this week. The Ford update is that they are removing the GPF 50 states package from any order that is outside of one of the CARB states due to constraints on the GPF. Apparently they are launching multiple lines with the GPF and don't have the supply chain to handle it.

I have never heard of this or carb states, whatever they might be. I assume it's something to do with making the planet less polluted, or something? If so that's probably why I've never heard of it I don't pay attention to that stuff.

Standard equipment for a few years in cleaner air standards areas like China and Europe, and more recently India. The US will be one of the last "developed" nations to get it, and only in those states for now.

There are zero Mavericks with GPF right now. They are just starting to put then in some of the new 2025s that are coming off the assembly line starting next week. Not all Mavericks will get a GPF. They are going to start putting them in some/all of the ones that are headed to the states that ScottyC listed.

They won't start the build of the GPF Maverick's until this week. So you don't have a GPF. You can look at the exhaust. About where you would expect a catalytic converter you will see a funky looking canister like on the thumbnail of the video. So breath a sight of relief you got the new engine tech minus the GPF. It may actually be a collectors item! Hang onto it and treat her right... Maybe dinner and some high octane?

According to the order guide, it's these states (17):
California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine,
Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Vermont, Washington. These are the states automatically getting the filter as long as there is no supply issue. Other states will not be receiving them.

And the weirdest thing is I live in a county in Az that doesn't even require an emissions test. But the other county that our primary house is in..does...And I just checked the emissions requirements for Washington state and they don't have emissions tests...Which ended Jan 1, 2020...
