Update: went to dealer with Ford letter for an explanation. Dealer labeled charge incorrectly. It was the standard(DELAWARE) doc fee charged by every car dealer. Well...
Hi. I've been following your situation and have offered my thoughts previously; however, I just realized that I know someone in Lewes Delaware that had ordered and just received an Explorer. I'll ask him if he would share his cost of "processing the paperwork" or "standard (DELAWARE) doc fee" that you mention. I don't know if he financed with FORD or not, but I'm sure he'll share his experience.

This has been a learning experience for all of us.

Has anyone had their dealer add a $600 "processing fee" to their Ford financing? Just got a letter today from Ford stating the $600 fee was omitted from my contract!?? Wth? My credit is excellent. Next step?

I spoke with my friend, who did NOT finance through FORD, and his dealership was going to charge $499 for document fees; however, there is something in Delaware (that I can't really explain) that allows you to fill out an application that has to do with being able to sell your used car elsewhere and apply a certain amount toward your down payment and then being able to have the amount of tax reduced by what the document fees would have been. (Really I couldn't follow his explanation, and may not even apply to your actual situation, so take it as something to look into if you want.) Google Form MV347 if you want to see the application.
STATE OF DELAWARE DIVISION OF MOTOR VEHICLES
P.O.BOX 698, DOVER, DE 19903
ATTN: FINANCIAL SERVICES (302) 744-2512
DOCUMENT FEE CREDIT/REFUND APPLICATION

Personally, I think a contract is a contract, and if the Dealer forgot to include something, that's on him and shouldn't be able to collect retroactively.
