I think the big issue here is that the under bed support structure would probably have to be plated for this. Requiring the exhaust, diff, suspension being removed to install a hitch. Probably best to stick to a traditional trailer. Only advantage would be shorter overall rig length for a given interior size.

You could use a truck camper with cab overhang on a small bumper pull trailer. It would give the look of a mini 5th wheel, but still be pulled by the truck hitch. The "cab over" part would now ride over the rear of the bed. Like in the pic below.

It would be a smaller camper, on a small flatbed utility trailer with a bumper pull hitch though.

A thought just occurred to me while driving to the cabin thins weekend, and seeing a lot of big, 5th wheel trailers being pulled behind enormous trucks. Has any company come out with a pint-sized 5th wheel camper for the Maverick yet? It would be cool to see what they could come up with...
The only fifth wheel I know of that's light enough for a Maverick to tow safely under 4,000lb limit is the Scamp. It comes in high 2,000 to low 3,000 UVWR.

that’s what I was thinking of. I didn’t know if it just made the cut or not. If I ever see one parked somewhere I’ll be sure to get a picture.

Hopefully they're easier to find in the US if you wish to buy used. They're darn near impossible to get used in Canada.

Well, that’s a little excessive I think. Replace the brake pads after every trip šŸ˜šŸ˜‚

I don’t know that I’ll buy one. It was just a thought. No place to store it in the off season and other issues. It’s good to know how versatile the truck is anyway.

I've already thoroughly researched what the Mav can pull. I'll be waiting till next year to get mine so I've had plenty of time on my hands to do my homework. LOL.
Dozens of options out there on travel trailers under 3,200lbs. That's the max unloaded I'd consider once you load your trailer with gear so you can safely stay under 4,000lbs and 400lb hitch weight.
