I hit 50k miles on my Mav and figured I would weigh in with my thoughts.
First issue... no fog lights. I added a pair of aftermarket ambers and all is well. Living in S.E. Louisiana without fog lights is not an option. Ford needs to offer them.
Next issue... the windshield is a rock magnet. I have been repairing cracks as soon as they happen, but eventually took a split at eye level, halfway across. I have not bothered to get it replaced yet as I can see fine and do not need an inspection for a while. Not sure if it is the height of the truck or the massive numbers of miles I drive, but rock hits seem to happen alot.
Next issue... recalls. The first was the airbag. Got it fixed without issue and received a nifty thermos with the maverick logo on it. NICE! Next recall was the engine fire one. No fix yet but no fire so I'm ok with it. Then they had to update my computer due to some epa bs. Now I am NOT happy. Lost at least 4 mpg. My average before the fix was 38mpg, mostly highway. After the fix I am at 32ish. I will be reprogramming the computer soon. Now they tell me there is a blinker recall that doesn't have a fix yet...
That is all for the bad.
I love my Maverick. Handles great, gets excellent gas mileage, looks good, and does everything I have asked of it. I have pulled an Audi A4 home from a friends house, and a Honda out of a ditch. Towing capacity is plenty for me. I really like the ACC and lane assist. Makes life in traffic easier. I have added fog lights, a camera system, and a hood lift as aftermarket stuff, but the only one needed was the fog lights.
Overall, I recommend the Maverick to anyone who asks. I plan to continue driving this one until the wheels fall off. If I am still working when that happens, I will buy another.
