Paul, suggest you try it using another trailer or with a magnetic set first. The problem may be with your trailer lights. Make sure it's grounded well. My 4 pin plug works without the adapter. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. It did turn out to be the trailer, and yes, it’s always a ground!

However, now with everything tested on the trailer I only get left/right and stop hooked up to the Mav. No running lights. This is where I’m wondering about the converter now…

Same thing happened to me when I hooked up a friend's trailer to haul some trash for him. Small trailer with a 4-pin plug for lights. I had turn signals and brake lights, but no running lights. Turned out that the trailer had a fault which blew a 20 amp micro fuse. Replaced the fuse, tested and all is good. My friend had someone else repair his trailer (not a certified mechanic) and he forgot what the problem was (he's a few years older than me and I'm 67). We did hook it up again and everything worked correctly.

Thank you Garry I will check the fuse again as i had seen that come up on another post. I know the running lights test okay on the trailer so that could be it.

Also have a neighbour with a trailer to test so we’ll see how that goes!
