Received oil sample report #3 with the truck now 5,000+ miles. Overall the report has good numbers. Except for viscosity. Like other reports the viscosity low. Reports, samples of all, reveal no evident of fuel dilution nor water, antifreeze. That on Motorcraft 5W-30 blend lube oil. That is concerning. Wondering specs of the blend vs the full synthetic version. I looked up the published specs of both oils, and strangely both oils have similar viscosity values! Looking at others oil, like Pennzoil full synthetic, their viscosity number higher than Motorcraft (ConocoPhillips). Blackstone suggested the viscosity not a big concern.

With the hot summer coming up soon, and the truck could use an oil change within next 12-1300 miLes, debating the choice of oil. One thing for sure, if I stick with Motorcraft, will switch to full synthetic, and prep another oil sample with ~2,500 miles posted on it. Or should I use a different brand, like Pennzoil or Mobil 1.

Ive seen where Motorcraft has a 10W-30 variety but not see if this oil approved by Ford in the 2.0 EB engine, per WSS-M2C961-A1. Only the 5W-30 is recognized, from what I could ascertain.
Just switch to full synthetic at the manufacturer recommended viscosity and forget about it. Your next Blackstone analysis will in all probability back this up.

I buy the recommended Motorcraft filter and Mobil 1 at the proper viscosity; take it to my trusted mechanic of many years changes it for me. He charges $29 + tax labor.

The viscosity drop on Motorcraft 5W-30 blend is a known issue, and you're right to be concerned. While Blackstone downplays it, the reality is that the base oil in the blend is not high-quality—it shears down too quickly, even without fuel dilution.

Motorcraft full synthetic has a similar viscosity rating on paper, but real-world testing shows better shear resistance than the blend. That said, if you're considering a switch, Pennzoil Platinum or Mobil 1 ESP have stronger viscosity stability under heat. AMSOIL Signature Series (the best) is another option if you want top-tier longevity and protection, especially for the upcoming summer.

OIL TESTING = SMART MOVE
