I've not had an issue with my 2024 Lariat back up camera. I disagree that it sucks or that it is shitty. Does everything I need it to. I suspect that the OP is a little like the some of the off road guy. The truck either does everything perfect or it sucks. No in between. Tells me you don't know how to properly evaluate.
Lariat is a different system. The xl and xlt does not have a sync system. The camera is laggy and herky jerky and you are often closer then you appear onscreen due to delay. I tryand use it just for pedestrian safety but instances like backing up to q trailer or tight parking spaces it cant be trusted.

Nothing showing up on my 24, but seeing posts on other platforms of this popping up on people's Ford pass.

Anyone know if all 22-24 are part of this ???

This is probably one of the most important updates. The camera sucks !
I don’t use the camera except for backing up so I know where my bumper compared to the vehicle behind me. I have had it pick up a kid on a scooter but not pick up cars passing behind me. I don’t rely on it at all and have almost been run over by people who do.

I checked the details. This is advanced notice only, so no repair details or timing given to dealers.

It covers 22-24 Mavericks, build dates 3 Feb 2021- 28 Nov 2023. Over 140,000 Mavericks involved. (They do sometimes adjust the date ranges...so the number of vehicles involved could change).

In all of the affected vehicles, the customer may experience a frozen rear view camera display image while in reverse, resulting in a false representation of where the vehicle is relative to its surroundings, increasing the risk of a crash. Customers may also experience an absent or delayed RVC image.

No other information is given to dealers. Sometimes a timeline is given in the advanced notices, but not in this one (yet).

A complete Dealer Bulletin will be provided to dealers when it is anticipated that software updates and repair instructions will be available to support this safety recall.

It may also be that part replacement and reprogramming could be involved, but I think a software update only is the most likely solution.

Does anyone know then, if this does not apply to Lariats?

This recall does not affect the Lariat trim since it has the Syn 3 system.

Could be as simple as changing the camera app processing priority from whatever it is to real time just like you can do in a windows computer. Won't change the resolution though and may effect another app(s).

Funny my 13yr old F150's rear camera was glitch and trouble free with sync zero.

For those who are hoping for a hardware upgrade, dream on.
Even if it is a software upgrade, it'll mean a more stable and reliable system, which would be just as good. Perhaps it could fix the occasional bugs with Android Auto scrolling and audio cut outs. I'm not looking for them to install a 4k home theatre or something

Is Ford going to pay for damages?
Back into my son’s car the other week , thought I was having a senior moment, then I got the recall for the camer. Back out the driveway thousand of times before never had a problem until the other week.
