I recently added the ECO and sport mode to my 24 FX4 Mav and took a road trip for the 1st time. The truck has been averaging 29.5-30.5 on my daily commute to work before adding the ECO mode. Now I'm averaging 31-32 mpg regularly and on the road trip I averaged 34.2 even after some bad traffic in downtown Atlanta. Speeds probably averaged around 70. But we spent alot of time in the 80's. I have a Georgia speeding ticket as evidence. 😒 (88 mph) Apparently I'm a super speeder in Georgia!
Pretty happy with the ECO mode. The sport mode is pretty fun too.

I hate Georgia's tickets. They welcomed me to the super speeders club a few years ago.
That was expensive. :)

Great! He did say it was $200 over the standard ticket.

I have a hybrid. I put tire pressure to 44psi on my last 400 mile round trip and set speed to 70-71mph. Got 37.0 mpg almost on the dot. That's about the best it can do highway. So really very little difference between the 2.5l and 2.0 ecoboost in highway driving.

Hybrid shines at 30-50 mph.

If someone's drive was mostly highway, there is very little difference in running costs between the two it seems. One advantage of hybrid is a less complex powertrain, and now with 2025 it is rated to tow the same. How well it will tow the same is up to determination however.

Nice to know about the mpg's. I'm waiting for a AWD ecoboost and they seem to get really decent mpgs and compared to my current ride (Chevy Avalanche), the Maverick will double my mpgs in town and on the freeway.

Other note on speeding tickets-one of the very few driving benefits of living in Taxifornia is that the CHP generally ignores anything up to about 15 over. And traffic, if it is moving, is aways 15-20 over the posted speed limit. Also you can always follow someone on the Interstates that is willing run at 90-100. 👍

When I ordered my truck, I had a feeling they would make a hybrid with the tow package. But I couldn't wait....wait....I did wait. Almost a year. Lol!
But in all seriousness, I tow my SxS and My boat pretty easy with the little truck and still daily it back and forth to work. 100 miles a day, so I'm happy.

back country roads at 55-60 i have gotten my FX4 up to 37mpg...and it wasnt just one of those i reset the counter going downhill and "goosed" the numbers. If I can find my photo I took, I think it was a almost 60mile stretch doing 55-60 (no rush to get where I needed to go in northern WI). Just regular driving mode and looked down and seen it worked its way to 37mpg. but nice to know that even at higher speeds the mpgs dont change much. (i tend not to go over 75 as 70s max speed around here)

I have seen some early morning trips to work where mine will get close to that but the evening commute has a ton of traffic and cuts me down pretty quick.

Found it. So it turns out overall I was a little bit slower. Take time driving with distance I drove, like 52mph average, but I had to slow down for some small towns to drive through. But otherwise here is the 37mpg proof :)
