22 Hybrid start up question

In the morning the first start up is electric then after about a minute the engine starts--It at that time we hear a high pitched whine and i do notice other people have the same issue is this normal? Truck has 300 miles on it!

Can you diagnose where the whine is coming from? Under the hood, behind the glove box?

This should be easy to do as you say you have a minute after start before the noise happens.

It is typical. Sure it is normal and will take some getting used to.

I thought so Its a whine up in the engine compartment only when the engine fires up--Actually when the engine is hot and running I dont here the whine as bad!

Fuel pump? Other electronic component?

Could be fuel pump, could be electric steering.

There is electric generator whine any time active generation is going on, and somewhat louder the heavier the load on it. Some compare it to a siren. It is at a frequency some people can not hear.

I guess the Lariat has just enough additional sound deadening to make it unobtrusive from inside the cab. I'll have to stand outside the cab and listen.

Yep, that's going to play into the differences. Between the acoustic windshield and the foam insulation, some of those noises from under the hood, etc., are going to be much less noticeable in the cabin.
