I'm still contemplating if I should order another Maverick since I enjoy it so much I would want it again or if I should just keep my current one?

This the scenario. I really want to order another Maverick very similar to mine but in a different color and with an extra feature I could benefit from. I currently lease a 2022 Maverick Lariat AWD with the luxury package and FCP360 package in Area 51. What I would order is another Lariat but this time in Hot Pepper Red (since I've always enjoyed that color) and with the added FX4 package considering it's only an extra $800 to the price. My dealer told me that they could do it since the order bank is still open. Also, to save themselves the grief of having to reimburse any orders that don't get picked, they're playing it safe and no longer taking deposits. So in that sense, I have to nothing to lose. I could order it without putting any money down. What's got me thinking, however, is the wait time. They told me that you can expect to wait a year or longer which I don't disagree with considering how many on here have waited for their Mavericks.

The thing is my folks and I are planning on moving out of state which means I will not be here when the vehicle arrives (if it even gets made) I asked if there's a possibility of delivering it to the nearest dealer that we move to and of course the answer was no. It has to be done at the original dealer. That would mean a massive cross-country trip just to do a trade-in which I don't see as very realistic. The whole reason for another Maverick is to benefit from one particular feature. We will be moving to an area that's bound to have a lot of twisty and hilly roads. The FX4 package comes with hill-descent control which is essential for roads like this. Also, I would have the color that I've always enjoyed from the get-go.

I just don't know what to do. Like the dealer said, there's no guarantee of it being built since the scheduling and production is so up in the air and disorganized. The whole point in bringing this up is if I should just go for it and see what happens or if I should just keep what I have and not worry? It's not like I really need to do it but it would be nice to have a feature I missed out on caused by my own negligence. Also, is that wait time legit? Will it really take a year or more to get it built? I figured since Ford raised the prices to calm to the demand to keep up with supply, that would translate into a shorter wait time. My dad thinks I would probably get it in three-four months but in the back of my head I'm thinking, there's no way. That's too unrealistic given the circumstances. I know this is a petty first world problem and I'm probably overthinking this when I shouldn't to but I would appreciate some input as to what I should do. I've talked myself into just going for it but at the same time, I just don't know where we'll be and if it's really worth it.

I would order it if you really want to, as you don’t have to take it when it comes either. I believe ecoboost is less time to receive as well as the order bank is still open which to me means that the waiting list may not be that long either 🤷‍♂️ as nobody knows for certain.

What's the timeline for your move? If it's soon, there's a possibility the order window may still be open. Other possibility is you move and start looking around at local dealer lots for what you want, with order windows still open that SEEMS to indicate Ford is not getting nearly the volume of orders they have the past two years (probably because people are not willing to wait for one) and they may be producing more dealer stock in MY24. I've read several threads here that predict we'll see actual, real dealer units at some point next year.

'Splain your situation to the dealer and ask if they will have it delivered to a dealer where you're moving. This can definitely be done, if both dealers are on board with it. Check for stupid additional fees to do this, beforehand, just to make sure they won't try to add any cost to the process.

Some people may be waiting to see what the various would be computers come up with.

I suppose I could but I have such a good relationship at my current dealer that I would want to order from them rather than take a chance at another dealer that may not follow the same business model.

Our timeline is during the summer of next year. I could search around at local dealers wherever we are but I have such a good reputable dealer now that I would want to make sure to give them the sale rather than take a chance at another dealer that may not share the same business model.

I've talked to my current dealer about this possibility but they strictly told me no on delivering it to another dealership. It would to have to be purchased here rather than there. I guess they don't want another dealer getting the sale instead of them.

Doesn't sound like they have a very good relationship with you. Just order the truck from a dealer where you'll be moving to. Some dealers take phone orders. Check the local/regional threads on MTC for a reputable dealer in your new town.

It sounds like you want hill descent for windy, twisty roads, but I don't think that's what it's for. I think it's intended for steep off-roading. I'm also not sure it's "essential" anywhere given that it's a fairly recent development in the grand scheme of things. Might be worth looking into more before moving into how to buy the new truck, you might not really gain anything. Of course just wanting a new truck can be enough reason too. Just MO.
