How does the Mav loaded like you have it do on gas in your real world work driving?
Is there a way to see daily trip data? Without using trip 1 or trip 2? Cause those are both the odometer reading. I’ll try and get a more accurate reading.

Right now I have 800 miles on the Maverick with a 33 mpg all time average I think.

I think the 33 is low in reality because I’ve been idling a ton. Taking breaks in my car to warm up or waiting in parking lots between customers. There’s really not a lot of extra weight, right now. The weight of rack, ladder, and tonneau, and what’s in the packouts can’t be more than 400. I just got the rack on this week so it could be too early to tell.

Also, no noticeable Highway noise / whistling from the current racks.

Vans are so amazing when you aren't paying for maintenance but dealing with the engine shoved under the cowl is always such a bear. This looks like a really modular solution!

Our ram pro master died yesterday. Had to get it towed. They’re second to none when it comes to cargo and organization management. But the thing is always in the shop for the sliding doors, the rear doors, and computer / electronic issues. It’s a 2016 under a 60k miles.

So you're saying that it's a Stellantis product?
Dodge/Ram makes a nice looking vehicle with cool features but they sure seems like they cheap out in all the wrong areas, my brother and his wife had two Jeeps and it was nothing but little chintzy problems all the time.

Car seats and booster seats typically expire after six years; however, check under the seat or on the frame of your particular model to find the specific expiration date. Try to always buy new a car seat when your current model has passed its expiration date or after any car accidents.Apr 3, 2022
I dont have kids nor did I ride in car seats as one. I have been forced to use em and keep em for nieces and nephews. they only fit em for a short time then they end up another hunk of plastic trash stuffed under the house. I know I "dont understand" because I dont have kids, and im a asshat for not caring about the law and safety but carseats past the uncontrollable toddler age is just overprotective nonsense.

Sorry but their parts can sometimes be used for something.

I will get the steps to the setting, but you do not have to rely on Trip 1 and Trip 2. I fill up at my setting and when I fill up, I reset it. I can see the accumulated mileage for that tankful only. Also, when you make a stop and turn your Mav off, take a quick look and you will see a segment display pop up with how many miles on that segment, how much was gas vs electric and mpg. Be sure to look at it quickly because when you open the door it disappears.

My goal is to get out of a “walk in” ram 2500 promaster; as much as possible…..and merge a daily life vehicle into a hybrid work truck / commuter. Also I would love ideas and can answer any questions for those similarly interested. The promaster is great. Decked out, it’s like a workshop on wheels. But it eats gas, is hard to park and back in comfortably at customers houses, always having issues, super heavy and slow to stop.

Two mechanic friends said the same thing over the years.

“Don’t buy a van, they’re all terrible they’re all expensive. Get a truck and a trailer”

this is a hybrid engine in Area 51 color, purchased in late November.

current mods

small stuff:

Mabett mud flaps
Tailgate assist
Rhino liner
Wireless CarPlay adapter
Mabett center console

small stuff future:

tailgate mounted step (advice requested)
Yakima ladder roller (advice requested)

big stuff:

home made packout shelf for back cab. MDF painted and clear coated. The packout drawers are great. Easily fit two and I could get a slim parts organizer on top. There’s enough space on this platform to do three packout sections.

there’s also a large rolling packout chest in the bed. I was going to get something like the swing box (I got it with the ford points) but it wasn’t as rugged as I’d like.
IMG_7396.jpeg
I’m going to be playing around with the bed and packout a lot. But the chest gets me up and running for now. Between work, the cold and lack of daylight or a garage some things are taking longer…

tonneau and rack

bak x4s cover with ts rails and angry elephant racks. I’ll be putting up a rhino roof rack or something similar for full coverage.

Want to mount a conduit carrier, to live up there, and in a secure way.

For ladders im planning on mounting a jet rack on the underneath; for a 4’ ladder, on top: a 6’ ladder and a little giant conquest 2.0 22’ multi position ladder (6’ storage height that goes up to 10’ A-frame and 20’ extension. That will likely be the end of anything roof mounted because of weight considerations. I’ll update here as I progress.

Hey, Mr Dirternie - how are things working out with your Maverick? Still good? I’m curious if you’ve made other changes or if things are still like you listed in this thread.

Also, did you figure out the tailgate-mounted step?

Thanks for reaching out. Haven’t updated in a while.
Things are going well. I wouldn’t say there have been any big additions; but a lot of refinements and maximizing every inch.

I’m either getting a cap or a trailer next. The thing the hurts the most right now, having it so packed, is hauling trash and junk (there can be a lot in the trades as a lot of you guys know).

I opted to not get a tailgate step. Takes up space and I can reach in for everything. I can also reach everything on the ladder rack, from the ground. So it just isn’t needed.

The refinements:

More ladder stops, a quick strap thing from vantek, and replaced the end caps with end cap-stops (to

A few more shots

the big packout crate (a mess right now) and my collapsible broom and fender protector so I don’t scratch the paint leaving over with my belt

That is one of the best work trucks I’ve seen. Thanks for taking the time to post the pictures and the information!

And I guess that’s true about being able to reach everything from the ground - it’s one of the greatest things about the size of this truck.

It’s great to hear things are going well 🙂
