Hey MTC guys, I've been a lifetime Ford guy and I had ordered a Maverick a couple years ago and it never got made by Ford. I recently found a good deal on a 22 Maverick XLT FWD with the Ecoboost 2.0L and I know that is probably the worse year for recalls and working out the bugs but what is your guys opinion? It has 40k miles-would all the recalls and that be taken care off or any of the common stuff that break on them already? It's at a dealer so no back info but 1 owner. Carfax doesn't say anything but something about seatbelt fix I think? Is recalls fixed listed on the Carfax or do you just look up the vin# somewhere? Is there many 22 owners here with higher miles? I heard there were gas tanks leaking but was just that the Hybrid version? Or is it better to just get a 23 and up with less headaches? My brother bought a 24 a few months ago and it's awesome. Thanks for any info you can give me and Happy New Year!!🤘

Since you have the Carfax, look for regular oil changes, if the maintenance history is good and it looks to be well taken care of you should be good to go. You can check with Ford on the VIN and make sure all the recalls are taken care of.

Thanks! Yeah oil changes were about the only thing on the Carfax and they were done about every 5k. Reading the Internet all you hear is problems with every single vehicle. Anybody have any big problems with there 2022 Maverick FWD???

Had two, no regrets or problems with either one. About 26000 miles on mine , about the same on the one I gave my grandson.

If you like it buy it, if it’s at a dealership I don’t think they can sell if it needs any recall & no vehicle is 100% guaranteed against problems. However I bought new a 2022 fx4 with the 2.0 ecoboost currently over 138,000 miles I drive everyday without any problems whatsoever. You can always find bad stuff posted online and if you search here as well.

Nice-just that there is always more problems with first year vehicles just like the Ranger in 2019. It's not at a Ford dealership. Geez look at how many recalls Ford has had the last few years and I'm a Ford guy. Did you do your diffs and tranny every 30k and Oil 3-5k?

I have a MY22 AWD with the 2.0L. I've had ZERO issues, not even a squeak or rattle. Had 1 recall something about a blub out indicator or something. Didn't worry me at all but i eventually carried it to the dealer, they found nothing wrong. I love it, would highly recommend one. Naturally do your due diligence as you would in any used vehicle purchase, maintenance history, wrecks, etc. I think you will find there's been more issues/recalls on the hybrid version than the EB. However, there has been lots of reports of dash rattles on both powertrain versions, i've just been lucky i guess as not to have experienced that. Good Luck, I think you will really like the truck, assuming you purchase one.

As far as recalls, an official source I didn't see mentioned is the NHTSA website will show you all unrepaired recalls for the vehicle by entering the VIN #.

138k miles, probably has to be about the highest mileage Maverick out there.

You live in Alabama My clicking sounds on what sounds like the passenger side dash area are not an issue in warm weather only cold weather.

:like: That's good info to know! Hard to discern that in all the post I've seen in the past. I can see where temperature could be a factor sometimes.

My brother had an older Fusion that would squeak big time in the winter but be quiet in the summer. 😂😂

I have had my 2022 XL Eco for three years now. Only have half that mileage.
The three recalls, that mine has are ALL "Software" upgrades.
I missed the "Battery" recall by three days.. 🤣

The fuel leaks, I thought were on both, Hybird and Eco. (**I have been corrected... Thanks, @Hammer) The fuel tank was punctured at the factory after the bed had received. A 'Spray-In" bed liner.. (Gas tank is just inches below).

As I had learn with ALL my "Used" Rangers. It Depends a lot on how the previous owner, maintain it..🤔
As mention.. Get the VIN and see what recall have been done..

slight correction to your info about the fuel tank recall. It occurred at the factory after they sprayed in the bed liner. They used a drill bit that was too long to clear the newly applied liner out the bed drain holes. The drill bit punctured the tops of the fuel tank.
