Im way late to the party. I have a first night lighting reservation, but am starting to think a Maverick might be a better fit. Any suggestions for getting a 2022 Maverick that’s not 10k over MSRP?
Thanks!

Hopes and dreams lol. You'll see 1 or 2 posts a month of people claiming they only paid MSRP. Seems more and more like $2500 markup is the best you'll find. Paying over MSRP is playing with fire. If we go into a recession (which isn't unlikely) and all of a sudden Carvana isn't willing to pay more than MSRP for a used one a lot of people could be in a really bad way.

Suggest holding out until August or take the Lightening.

Scroll down in FORUMS to Members MarketPlace > Mavericks For Sale ..... If you're willing to do the legwork on MTC MarketPlace, you may find what you want.

Why would a car buyer care in the least what Carvana would offer for that car (truck)?

@anthafied , if you can find one for a price you find acceptable, go ahead and buy it. Waiting until 2023 models are priced might even be higher than the prices that shock us today.

1. Email all of the Ford dealers in your area and let them know you are looking for a Maverick.
2. Be prepared to pay above sticker.
3. Be prepared to move fast if one becomes available.

I didn’t order mine but I emailed all the local Ford dealerships and after just a few weeks the exact truck I wanted, Hybrid Area 51 XLT with Luxury Package, showed up at the Ford dealership right down the road from me. I stopped after work when it was just off-loaded from the transporter to check it out. It was literally 10 minutes before they were to close. Went back the next morning and made the purchase.

I paid $5k over MSRP but at $32k for a hybrid that get 40 mpg it was still worth it to me. It also helped that Carmax gave me $18k for my 6 year old Honda Civic that I paid $23k for new.

Good luck in your search.

I would go the opposite way if you can afford to wait. Find a dealer that's been honest about honoring the MSRP on retail ordered units and place an order with them at MSRP for MY 2023. Be diligent about getting the right paperwork (a signed, binding contract) when you order, then sit back and wait.

It will take several months, but you'll get a truck a lot cheaper. I doubt MSRP will rise all that much ... certainly not to what dealers are doing with markups at this time. Down the road you'll be sitting in a better truck that cost you thousands less.

I was offered to take over the special order of a Lariat Lux for $40k and passed. It wasn’t even a hybrid like I wanted.

I’m aware of two Lariat luxury packages at a dealership near me that should arrive soon, the person who ordered them backed out a few months ago, they do have some dealer add ons but not that much money compared to others
