Wondering myself. Need to know if it enables the Interior Sensors that are supposed to be on the XLT/Lariat. My dealer said Perimeter Plus not required, but my Interior Sensors DO Not set the alarm off. Was told to make an appointment to have them troubleshoot and see if/how the Interior Sensors are activated.

No I have not made it to the dealer, it’s still sitting in my back seat guys. Will try to go this week…work has been a mess. I downloaded the install instru and it’s not really a plug n play.

OK, my latest update regarding the "Parameter Plus" security alarm. I have the Lariat First Edition and I know no Alarm is triggered with external bumping or banging on the truck! So, after months of not being able to get any solid answers (dealer, FoMoCo or other) on what this additional security adds to my Maverick I finally went to my dealer again. This time I went straight to the "Service Manager" Sean & he was genuinely interested to answer / solve this as I. He did all the normal Ford searches that we all did and concluded with the same confusion. Then I requested that he search YouTube for the guy with the Ford Transit that showed the alarm already installed. Sean actually had one of his employees hook up to my OBD-II port to enable it if was present and it wasn't, but the fact that they spent an hour+ to check and perform 4 system updates really impressed me.

Next, I asked Sean if I could order the "Perimeter Plus" and get the 20% discount that is offered via Online. After checking with Ford - NO ... Then I asked if I order Online can I use my Rewards Points - NO ... I went home and asked on our Forum if anyone has been able to order Online and use Rewards - YES (Fairwayfordparts). I contacted Nathan FairwayFordParts.net and he completed my order with the 20% discount and used my Rewards Points. When I receive parts I will go back to my dealer and see if they'll install for the $50 or other. I'm pretty sure Sean will be just as interested to learn what the "Perimeter Plus" security offers or adds to the "Perimeter" security system.

Another quick update: Sean said that he'll honor the Online install quote of $50 & will also install the LED kit with it.

“Perimeter Plus” alarm system installation by dealer.

Tuttle Click Ford Irvine, CA
Service Manager: Sean Osborne
Service Technician: Martin

FairwayFordParts.net: Purchase Online w/ 20% discount & used “Rewards” points.
Perimeter Plus (KN1Z19A361-A) = $169.95
Optional LED Kit (DM5Z-19D596-A) = $12.08
Shipping = $0.00

Dealership Install = $50.00

Today I had my dealership perform this install on my Maverick F.E. that took about 2-1/2 hours. Admittedly everything to do with the Maverick is NEW to them, so they are learning as well, but I genuinely appreciate the work and relationship that I have with my dealer! They knew I was bringing online purchased parts in for them to install and they only charged a $50 install (including the LED kit).

In short, the physical install is basic/simple including the LED kit. The programming/setup/key fob can be a bit more challenging for some but still doable. The final aspect is adjusting the motion sensitivity, which again isn’t difficult but is adjust-test, adjust-test, etc. In talking to the technician, I believe most of his time was spent researching the install/programing process and steps.

When activated the alarm will work in two ways: (sensitivity is adjustable)
  • It will “chirp” if there is sudden strike to the truck (i.e. a small closed fist bang to the truck)
  • It will “alarm” if there is a more intense impact.
  • In theory it isn’t supposed to go off due to strong winds or thunder.
  • I don’t know or have tested if there is an “Inclination” alarm associated with this module.
Final thoughts, for the out of pocket cost of only $50 I am "at this moment" very pleased with this Accessory "Security" purchase. I believe that it may give me the ADDITIONAL peace of mind that I was looking for... but only time will tell if it works as advertised.
