After week one of ownership and short trips around town, I took a 1,857 mile trip for week 2. It was lots of highway mixed in with a few days of moving my son's belongings to a new house. Overall, I was very happy with the "trucky". It's an EB XL, and the round trip did 30.0 mpg...VERY NICE! The initial legs were better due to the non-winter mix gas in VA vs the mix in Maine. That's always an issue in the winter. I've seen this in all my vehicles on these trips over the last 8 years. The best leg (and the first) gave me 31.2 mpg. I used regular 87 octane for the whole trip.
Other than mileage, here's my thoughts...in no particular order...

1) Great gas mileage...I didn't push hard as it's brand new, but I didn't baby it either. Mostly ECO mode on the highways
2) Comfortable seating on long ride...no pain, no cramps...and I'm getting into those "Senior Citizen" years...
3) Audio quality isn't quite as good as I'd like. Based on research on this site I think a speaker replacement will fix that...stay tuned...
4)Highway ride is pretty good...better than I'd hoped. Wind pushes it around a bit, but not too bad
5) Soft fold bed cover buffets more than I'd like. I ordered some Velcro strips and will take an afternoon to install that and tighten up the attaching legs...we'll see...
6)Very "mechanical" engine noise at low speed...a bit louder than I expected, but not terrible. For the $$ I paid, no big deal!
7)Apple CarPlay not my favorite app... I'm getting used to it, but still not sold on using it full time. Saw the bouncing WAZE speed numbers that others have. I like having the phone plugged in while playing music, as the quality seems a little better than over Bluetooth, but wish I could have a "no CarPlay" button. I didn't want to experiment while driving so some time in the garage is upcoming on this one.

Wrap-up... Very Happy with the new trucky. I haven't seen many of the negatives I've read about here. I hope that continues as I usually keep vehicles for a long time as I put lots of miles on them..about 25K/year.

Cheers!

Excellent review and enjoyed and appreciated your experience. I have the XL with 4K towing being built week of March 18th. I also hoping for a truck that will hold up for 200K miles.

Hey Chuck.

Congratulations on getting your Maverick! I can see you are enjoying it already.

Now that you have it, perhaps one of the first mods is to add a Maverick Truck Club decal so you can properly “represent.”

Two styles/sizes available:

Maverick Truck Club Decal (Glossy) | MaverickTruckClub - 2022+ Ford Maverick Pickup Forum, News, Owners, Discussions ($5 delivered)

Maverick Truck Club Decal (Transfer) | MaverickTruckClub - 2022+ Ford Maverick Pickup Forum, News, Owners, Discussions ($6 delivered)
