Picked up 'The Truck' November 4, 2022, after waiting 400 daze (sic) from order entry and navigating all sorts of mayhem, most involving suggestions to delete this-that-and-the-other so that maybe it would be built and delivered sooner. Nope, not happening. Built and delivered as originally ordered, fully loaded Latiat.
Adjusting to the rotary tranny dial was a non-issue, as decades earlier I learned to drive a push-button transmission (left side of the dash!) '64 Dodge station wagon, definitely not a chick magnet. Pushing the transmission selector switch 4 times at start up to arrive at 'Eco' has become a habit that is sometimes forgotten. Also forgotten is the early obsession to check MPG's; now it's more of an accidental action.
The caterwauls concerning soft glass, soft plastic and soft paint were ignored and have not been verified. The cubby, a topic consuming 1 billion gigs within this site, has been filled with a personal favorite that is mostly hidden behind a fully functional and easily installed Course Motorsports magnetic phone mount. The USB pigtail that connects The Truck, and thus the Apple phone, lays in the tray, ready.
The only other aftermarket addition has been a flat black vinyl MAVERICK lettering on the tailgate, acquired from a long forgotten Etsy vender.
Interior has been cleaned and detailed maybe 5 times and The Truck parked in a U-Spray-It wash maybe 8 times, 2 of those times to wash road salt off after a (now rare) snow event. The FWD was completely up to task of driving in snow.
There's been 2, perhaps 3, road-trips of 2k miles and many of a 3-5 hour one-way variety. Seat fits me well, I've adjusted to the idiosyncrasies of the Adaptive Cruise Control and the lane keeping shudder. I now know 'The Slot' (you know what I'm talking about!) is a means to release the Kraken in 1 of the 11 Alternate Universes this truck exists in...
2 Mobile Unit Service calls made recall updates easy, the battery was (eventually) replaced after an on-going "Key Not Detected" glitch. So far, so good on that nagging gem.
Oil changes have occurred when called for, an alignment was completed that addressed a very slight drift to the right ($170, ugh!) and tire rotations at suggested intervals.
The Truck has easily hauled the items I've needed to haul and has only been borrowed by a friend in need one time.
This Maverick has been exactly the vehicle that fits my needs. Glad I stumbled upon it in July of '21 and in extension, this site later the same year. Quite the ride.
And yes, I still dig the Offset!
