Does the truck have a real key

No,i have never had a vehicle with a key that controls everything.sooooo,does the maverick come with a key that opens and locks the door,turns the ignition on and off,and where can you get a spare key only?yes,im a old 71 year old man and don’t understand all this hi teck stuff

The XLT has a real key!

If you got a xl or XLT, yes it comes with a real key that you have to put in the ignition, and turn. The other buttons on the fob are self explanatory. You'll do just fine.

If you get a Lariat then you have a key fob that will unlock the door or if you are close and the key is in your pocket it will unlock the door if you touch or grab the driver or passenger door handle. I really like that part. You start or stop the truck by pushing the start button on the center console. It does have a key that is in the fob in case the battery in your fob is dead or you can't otherwise unlock your door or there are buttons by the drivers window that will unlock or lock the truck entering a code. If nothing else if you have the Ford app on your phone it will lock, unlock or start the engine from your phone. If you have an Apple Watch and iPhone you can do it from your watch too!

I'll never forget the first time I got a cell phone call and my phone was upstairs. My Apple watch was ringing and I thought what the heck, I'll answer from my watch. Audio was decent and the caller could hear me fine. I felt like Dick Tracy holding the watch up to talk on the phone. Next is a camera in the watch for video then it really will be Dick Tracy time!

This. Even the keyless access fobs have a actual key, there's a little button close to the key ring that you press to slide it out

Thank everyone for your responces.im old fashioned i guess but i still like a old fashioned mechanical key lock and switch.i will use the electronic way to lock and unlock doors and start the truck but still like the old mechanical way just in case the electrical way doesn’t work.

If it helps, push to start and remote fobs have been around for a looonnnggg time. It's for the most part really reliable and safe tech.

There is also a keypad to lock/unlock the doors on the outside of the truck.

The XL & XLT use the key in the FOB to start the vehicle. The only question I have is how long will that spring last in the FOB since the key is spring loaded. Ford should have the push button start in all the Mavericks since it is not some new technology

Fun fact: there is a spot under the felt in the center console that you can put the intelligent access keyfob that will allow you to start the truck with the push button if the fob battery is dead.
