What are pros and cons of the change in the 2025 model to touchscreen icons rather than physical knobs for some functions?

What is that dash space right behind the 12" screen?

Personally, a lot of the controls they made virtual are controls I didn't interact with much. I set the temp on auto the day I got it and haven't really touched it since. The truck is also pretty good about predicting when the heated seats and wheel would be needed. So, the only thing left physical are those items you are likely to interact with more often.

The space behind the screen is just a cubby.

the touch screen controls of sync4a are a mixed blessing. controls you would use most often are on the bottom of the screen. others are a few taps away. unfortunately you can't change the bar and set favorites or anything. some controls are also on the steering wheel and some are available via voice commands to "ok ford".

as there are more and more complaints about "distracted driving" it's disappointing that more controls are moved to a touch screen that you have to look at, taking your eyes off the road. you can reach find knobs and buttons yourself without having to look.

Go to car parts. Look under 2023
ford transit 250-350. About $250. I’m guessing you have Sync3 or4? If not it’s a lot of programming

yeah if you don't have sync4a it's not going to be of much use to you, plus you're going to have a fun time fixing it to the dash (and i don't envy someone ripping out a 12" to replace it with the smaller one).

I'm old, and I like buttons... but I love new tech, so it's a wash for me.

We got used to that kind of screen touch controls in our 2015 Flex. On the Maverick, it is very responsive and quick. Pretty easy IMHO.

You have to take your eyes off the road to use the touchscreen icons, after you’ve looked twice to see where to poke the screen. Then ya might miss now and then, more looking.

IMHO physical knobs can be operated totally by feel.
My eyes can stay on the ever so important task at hand.

Ever notice the massive screen in the Tesla’s ?
Much Much easier to read quickly.

Buttons, Sliders, knobs and switches can ALL be operated by feel.
