Sienna engine only produces 189 HP. So Mav hybrid should be fine with 3k pounds if we assume it translates linearly.

random search on Google tells me that a 1995 Explorer with only 160 HP could tow 3500 lbs. (edit - scratch that - with factory tow package, up to 5k lbs it seems. Same...
They're both 2.5L hybrids (and both Atkinson I believe) with an eVCT.
My Mav feels way peppier than our Sienna, thanks to 1k less lbs to haul around too. (0-60 times seem about identical though - maybe the AWD helps off the line)
HP isn't the main reason for tow ratings, also, it seems.
I'd never buy tires at a dealer unless they have a really good special running.

You twos are the reason that these "shell games" can exist. When I maintained (mainly oil changes) more vehicles, I would find all the oil deals out there and stock up. Used to get full synthetic oil for free many, many times. Gotta play the rebate game, but it pays to play sometimes.
