If I tow I will go with premium fuel. The owners manual says that you can use 87 octane fuel so I don't have a problem using it under less demanding...
I voted being indifferent about it. I have the keypad on my 2002 Explorer and never used it in 15 years. I did test it a couple of months ago to see if it still worked after years of not using it and it still works!

I'm guessing it's about horsepower. That shouldn't be a big factor driving around town on flat terrain with no heavy cargo or not towing a trailer.
I imagine that you could use a replacement plug from a hardware store to wire into the new inverter.
I'm still not sure if you will have problems with the onboard computers if you disconnect the existing hardware and install something different. These new vehicles tie things together with BCM's...
Not sure if there's room were the OE one is. It's located in the center console. BCM may have a problem doing a swap.
