I think you are underestimating how heavy a spray in liner can be. I can't imagine the difference between the two is significant enough to really impact your fuel economy. The drop-in might actually be lighter.
According to one Line-X franchiser, a spary-in weighs 40-70 pounds. Probably closer to the lower end for a Mav for obvious reasons.

It has to be a plug-in hybrid to get any credit and it has to be built by an American union shop to get the full $12.5K. The hybrid Mav does not plug in and is built in Mexico. There's no tax credit for this car.
