I want an EV for one main reason. Number of moving parts in the drivetrain. ICE? 2500. EV? 25 or so.
Do EV's have other issues ice cars don't? Certainly. But right now everyone is judging EV's based on their history up to now. Bad in cold, low highway range, lack of chargers when rural...
Does anyone remember the "X" in El Paso? Rock station had their AM antenna on the Mexican side of the border and cranked their power up way over what the US allows. One time in Colorado up in the mountains it was the only station I could get at night. ZZ Top did a song about it.
I'd love the .stl files too. I've got color changing vinyl decals from etsy right now, but printing out some in a neat color would be fun. Consider uploading them to thingiverse.com. I've got a maverick cubby phone holder on there.
I'm 67, and a techie. I have a game rig I built in 2019, (behind the times but does all I want), laptops, iphone 16s, kindles, echo dots, ring doorbells, surround sound, 65" LG oled, and a bigazz tv antenna in the attic hooked up to a Tablo DVR which I love.
That said, I would like to point out...
To be fair, I think all of these are 3/4 ton pickups, and that huge Ford on the left might be a one ton. Hey Halo9x, my first car after college was a 1981 Mustang with the straight 6. After about a year it never ran well.
Mine had 40. Pretty sure they used it for a few test drives as they didn't have many on the lot. I checked it over real well and haven't worried since. Got 5K on it now.
1981. Sinclair ZX-81. Cost one hundred bucks I could barely scrape together. Had 1K of ram. Not one meg, one K. Called in sick to stay home and play with Basic.
I'm retired but attended a celebration lunch at my old place of work, (large drywall subcontractor), for a friends retirement. Couldn't resist the photo op. When they tease me about my truck I just tell them, "I don't have to compensate".
The grocery stores here in north Texas have finally gotten on the Hatch chili bandwagon. Roasters in the parking lot and everything. About the only good thing about August in D/FW.
Back in the CB craze, I had dual bumper mounted antennas on the back of my 57 chevy coupe that would drag on the canopy over the bank drive-thru. So I totally don't understand stubbies.
I drive the wife from Dallas to Lafayette, 400 miles, a few times a year and last August with A/C on I got 37 going down and 33.5 coming back. Typical speed 77. Difference due to wind.
Just did the drive mid January and got 32-33.
Next time I drive it I'm going to try and get some ethanol...
Some days I can't help but think tribalism is the curse of mankind. It's been there since the rock throwing cavemen decided the stick throwing cavemen are idiots.
Me too. Farley says a mid-size EV pickup is coming in 2027, see here, but I doubt I'll get lucky and get a two door. A small EV pickup would be perfect for my use case and I've been waiting for one for awhile, but settled for a hybrid for now.
