I've never been really impressed with elaborately expensive vehicles. Sure, any car mfg can build a sports car that jumps 0 to 60 in 4 seconds for $100k each. Build me a versitle, fuel-efficient, functional vehicle with the constraint of a $30k sales price and you got my attention and respect...
Groceries
I bought 5 reusable grocery bags. They're perfectly sized to fit between the closed tailgate and a verticle 2x6 in the first bed slot. Leaves enough room for a 12 pack of soda/beer and maybe a large container like a bleach bottle. And nothing rolls or slides around.
Please each...
I have the same setup as OP.
The ProX15 cover can be installed with a rail system that creates mounting channels on each side of the bed. With that you get an accessory (from Thule, elevate, yakima) that lets you slide the towers onto the rails instead of clamping them to the bed.
The Elevate...
You know, if they never made the hybrid I'd still be extatic about the 30mpg ecoboost.
So getting around 40mpg in a truck that can haul 1300 lbs of rock (plus me), cost <$30k, and has the turning radius and parallel parking capability like a small hatchback is unbelievable.
I recently played...
Welcome to the club.
The Mav is my first hybrid, too
I had to get used to the breaking. The engine does some of it for you. It'll come naturally. Maybe just don't make tight, bumper to bumper traffic your first drive.
It's a lot of fun to drive. Very smooth exceleration
Thanks!
Oil changed about 2 weeks ago.
Drove it home carefully (checked often for smell and coolant levels). All was good on the ride home. No smell at all.
Smell was worst outside of drivers side door.
Gonna double check fluids tomorrow and look at wires more closely. Thanks for the ideas.
Thanks guys!
Good to know about the heat exchanger.
Made it home with no additional smell and no further loss of coolant.
I'm going to add coolant (I've verified the correct type) in a bit. I've also contacted Ford.
I'll share any further issues or resolutions in case it's interesting to others.
Follow up. Might be coolant. Engine temp still good, but coolant is at "min" level. Just had oil change a couple weeks ago and assume they Topped everything up.
No smell after 1 hour of driving today and coolant level hasn't dropped further.
I've read through all the posts I could find on this issue. None I saw had a resolution. Posting in case there's new info out there.
On a 3 hour drive yesterday. Rolled windows down 2 hours in and smelled a burning smell. Somewhere between burning breaks and exhaust fumes. We were on flattish...
If I can add, some felt material duck taped to the ends of your divider will help it slide smoothly into place and reduce scratching. In case you haven't done something like that yet
Pretty much every time I start my 22 hybrid only the electric motor comes on (it's super quiet).
This morning I noticed the gas engine came on at start up. I had the AC on from yesterday, so thought maybe it needed the power?
So I turned off the AC and drove a few miles. It was hard to tell...
