To be 100% clear, the "Wi-Fi Hot Spot" is the component that might or might not have been dropped from your build. The "modem" (required for FordPass, etc.) is not impacted by the "Wi-Fi Delete" option.
PS - my Hybrid FE (built 6/28/22 per the window sticker) does have the Wi-Fi Hot Spot...
I agree with mamboman777 about the Hybrid highway mileage... I was expecting around 33 mpg, but got 36.8 (calculated at the pump) on my recent 800-mile trip (95%+ highway, causing at the speed limit: 70-75 mph). That's substantially better than most EB owners are reporting for "real world"...
So true for Texas as well... If there was even a hint of frost on the road, my office would announce a "delayed opening" or just close altogether. Fortunately, they were also way ahead of the "working from home" trend, so it didn't affect me much.
Buyer's remorse? No way! I picked up an Area 51 Hybrid First Edition two weeks ago. I love my little truck! As someone else mentioned, it is very easy to get in/out, and once in, the cabin and seats are quite comfortable. I've already taken one trip (300-miles each way), and really enjoyed...
During the rare "snowmageddon" we had here in Texas a few years back (not to be confused with last year's "icemageddon"), I watched a guy trying to so donuts in the snow in a WalMart parking lot. Idiot forgot there were concrete "bumpers" in between the "lanes"... He (or she - never got close...
jzielbauer mentioned that the tonneau cover he's using is made up of aluminum panels covered in polyurethane. Wouldn't that roughly 1.5' x 4' aluminum panel provide adequate ground plane for the antenna? Not trying to be a smart ass – genuinely curious...
[Update - just finished reading...
I paid over MSRP for the Area 51 Maverick Hybrid First Edition that I purchased because:
I needed a replacement for my Prius-C very soon.
My wife will need a replacement for her Impala within a year.
After more than a year of market research, the Maverick Hybrid matches up perfectly with our...
When I first got the Maverick, I noted the "grabby" brakes during the last couple of feet of a stop. I've gotten a little better at modulating the brake pedal pressure, easing off the pressure as we come to a stop, and that helps a lot, but it would still sometimes just "clunk" to stop a foot...
When Ford opened the order window for the '23 Maverick (September 15th, 2022), dealers were well aware of that date, and many had customer specs waiting to be ordered. Ford was well aware of pent-up demand for the Maverick, and especially for the Hybrid Maverick. They should have anticipated...
You say your Maverick is a complete lemon. You wish you'd never bought it. In fact, you hate it so badly that you wish your order had been cancelled.
Then when someone offers to solve your problem by purchasing it from you, you suddenly want $5K more than a brand-new one would cost...
Just FYI, "custom orders while still adhering to the dealer model" is not at all unique to Ford. I've custom-ordered from Audi, VW, Chevy, Dodge, and several other brands. ALL of them were able to give me a "lead time" even before placing the order that was accurate within a week or so. I do...
It's not just you... ALL the full-sized trucks have gotten WAY bigger. There's an older Chevy 1500 parked on the street near my house that's a 2012 model. It sits across the street from a 2022 Chevy 1500. The newer one is 6 inches longer, 2 inches taller, and 2 inches wider.
And if you go...
I had a 2012 Prius-C, and NEVER got close to 56 mpg with it, except once when I was seriously hypermiling... Average on mine was closer to 42-45 mpg, depending on what type of driving I was doing. But in fairness, I lived in the country, and there was very little "stop and go" driving - mostly...
I just got back from an 800+ mile trip in my brand-new (<400 miles when I started) Hybrid. Roughly 90% of the driving was on the freeway, doing either 70 or 75 mph (speed limit dependent). For the entire trip, I averaged 36.8 mph (calculated at the pump). And that's certainly not the "optimal...
If the pictures are accurate, the '24 Tacoma is HUGE - looks like the same size as "Full Size" trucks from about 5 years ago. Not really of interest to me, since it won't come close to fitting in my garage...
My 2022 Area 51 Hybrid First Edition (built 6/28/22) was subject to the recall, and had been sitting at the dealership for quite a while, waiting for the parts to come in. The person who ordered it had given up and walked away from the order, so I got the chance to purchase it.
I took...
Even though I bought a Lariat (and that's what I've ordered as well), I like the XL interior the best. My wife was insistent that we get the Advanced Cruise Control, so that forced me all the way up to the Lariat Lux with CP360+Assist. A LOT of extra $$ for stuff I didn't really need. But I...
