Got an email from Ford tonight at about 8:00 PM. My build week is delayed from 10/23 to 11/13. Oh, well. I’ve waited about 13 months (that’s not as bad as many of you!), I guess an extra three weeks ain’t the end of the world.
Had there not been a Maverick, I would just keep my 2011 Ranger 4x4. 95K miles. Drove a newer (2019) Ranger 4x4 recently and didn’t like it. It was the size of the F-150s I drove in the 90s. I couldn’t reach the floor of the bed while standing on the ground.
I bought a hybrid Maverick because I prefer driving trucks. I’ve been driving trucks since the 80’s...and I’m frugal (aka cheap). When I ordered mine, hybrids and EBs were the same price.
On impulse I bought a set of Bronco Sport take-off wheels. Came with Michelin 225-60-R18 tires with about 1/4” of tread left. I paid $550. Fair deal or not?
If your insurance company is worth its salt, their investigators should check for video in the area. If they can find a way for the other company to pay, they’ll do it…unless the other guys company is the same as yours. Regarding your initial question: if insurance wants to total it…let them...
I’m sure it’s somewhat regional, too. Here in East Tennessee, there are none available within 100 miles…or so I’ve been told. I’m sure they could be found, however, depending on how far you’re willing to travel.
The Subarus I owned in the 80’s were a breeze for oil changes. I could reach he drain plug from the side or the front, and the filter was on top of the engine. Easy peasy. Five minutes and I was done with no mess. I wish all manufacturers would do that!
I took the article to mean “available for retail sale”. If the counting process works like you said, the actual available inventory was lower than stated! I think there might be more available through private sellers than from dealers.
just read an article from Ford Authority on FB. They quoted dealer inventories for Mavericks in September was just under 4000 units. There are right at 3000 dealers. It wouldn’t let me post the article or I would have. It looks like market adjustments will be here for a while yet.
Odd that this article says UAW is asking for a 36% increase over 4 years. It was originally reported as 42%. One problem is that the union wants the healthy raises PLUS a cost of living adjustment (COLA). That could mean huge raises in years of high inflation. I’m sure the negotiators are...

My XL Hybrid is scheduled for the week of 10/23 (about 5 weeks away). So much could happen between now and then that it’s impossible to even speculate what effect the UAW stirike might have on my truck.
