I just have a general feeling that most new vehicles come with cheaper tires, so it might be that your first set of tires won't last a real long time. Beyond that, I agree that every driver should check their own tire pressures and wear. It's very simple.

I’m no expert, but I know some people will fill a new filter with some oil. Not familiar with any issues from a “dry” new oil filter.

I’d think the contract should have the details you’re looking for on early changes. Not the same issue, but I had a Honda dealer tell me my new hybrid Accord comes with one free oil change, but that they wouldn’t change it till the monitor said 0%!
