Bed rails are not nearly as strong as the provided D rings. Don't ask me why I know.
The D rings are also sharp and will cut through cheap ratchet straps, use slings or shackles. Cam straps are a better practice than ratchet straps for this truck.
I feel like this thread has been hijacked. A dsp amp and a sub are the best options for audiophile sound after you upgrade the speakers. Audison is a solid choice, but there are others out there. Nakamichi may be the most cost effective but lacking auto tune. I'd like to see how it turned out.
• When I open the door, the truck shifts to park.
• All the forscan mods. Especially traffic sign recognition
• The infotainment center which keeps getting updates rather than going obsolete. Coolwalk is cool.
• The I Heart Radio app and Spotify which work without a cord
• The app that reads...
Use an L pad rather than a resistor to attenuate the volume. An Lpad in its simplist implementation is just a variable resister. We used them all the time when building speakers back in the day. Drivers never seemed to match in volume.
This center speaker going to be hard to integrate into the...
Mine started shuddering today. I have about 12k miles and is 1 yr old. It happened while I was coasting at about 30 mph at least 4 times on the way home. I can't exactly replicate it at will, but expect it to get worse. I kept looking for rumble strips, but by the fourth time I was sure the...
What I hear you all saying is that ACIM module and the B&O amp both do some digital signal processing. Neither one has a programming interface, so you are left with whatever decisions the designer made.
The simplist way to tame this beast is to take two full range signals from the ACIM run it...
I really don't know. I've misplaced my calibrated mike and test setup or I'd check. I do know the door speakers get full bass. So much so that the reference speakers vibrate the inner plastic door frames beyond what I think they can handle at loud volumes. I just keep the volume down. Coax...
I'm a fan of full DSP amps. The value is in the tunability. The Tune is done by by a professional using calibrated mikes and spectrum analyzers. It can be made to sound however you like wherever you sit in the truck. If you skip this step, the system will not sound good.
The install could be...
Got it today. Slick looking. It seems to take over my phone calls. I couldn't hang up. My phone is an old Kyocera running android 9. Still can't get the MA1 dongle to work. I think my phone is just too old.
I posted it somewhere here. I doubt the ebay seller is still around but there are hundreds of slightly different ones still there. The crossbar is a tee that slips onto the upright and a matching tee crossbar which slips on to the upright on the other side. I cut down the uprights and the...
The Motorola MA1 states that it is compatible with "most phones with Android 11 or later."
I never could get it to work with my Blackview 9800.
It came with a USB A connector.
Instead, I just fiddle with cords and USB drives.
OK, I got the hooks today. The tee side does not fit in the holes but the hook side does. I have two of them so I can rig up a harness. I know the good book says not to use metal hooks but this is much better than the single hook at the end of my tow chain and as a bonus I can now easily rig up...
40+ years ago my buddy thought it was a great idea to turn off the engine to his VW bug when coming down the mountain. Little did he know the steering locks when you turn the wheel with the key in the off position in those old vehicles. We clipped a phone pole. Luckily no-one was hurt. The VW...
I bought a pair of these on ebay for $14. Along with some webbing I can safely hook up to the front of the vehicle without crawling underneath and little risk of scratching the bumper skin. I'll store them under the seat. I'll report how they work.
I traded a Forester in for my Maverick.
My takeaways are this:
The Subaru dealer was much better. The CVT went out at 90k miles and they replaced it free and gave me a loaner for free the whole time they had it. No questions asked. My dealings with the Ford dealer have not been so good.
The...
So I checked it out this afternoon. The hole is not accessible from the engine compartment and there is not much room above it to stick a chock through. The hole is in a heavy cross member. I think I'd use a hook even though the manual says not to. There just isn't any viable alternatives. I...
Wondering the same thing. My bar or box is never long. My gas mileage is never great. Usually around 35 MPG and 33 when I take long highway trips at 75 mph. I have suspected that the battery is not the same capacity it had when it was new but I can't figure a way to check it. The small box...
You use a loop of 1" webbing to go through the hole and around a large blunt object like a stick of oak. The tow strap hooks to the webbing. The sheet metal is the unibody and is plenty strong as long as you don't use small hooks that deform the metal.
Here is a premade nylon one. It is easier...
