Well Ford tried the waaaaaaaayyyy more expensive route with the sport trac first. Didn’t work.

They bought those 80k pickups and feel the need to be superior.

Imagine a compact pickup based on the rav4, Toyota quality,Tacoma like resale values. 🤔

If I could tow 4K with my fusion i wouldn’t even have considered a maverick for my needs. The worse fuel mileage is the only real trade off for me which I’m willing to live with.

Maverick wouldn’t be popular if it was priced 10k higher across trim levels. It’s cheap entry level transportation that replaces the fusion and, the fiesta and focus in hybrid trim. It’s the price point along with the idea of its a truck for most people.
