  1. Bye Bye Maverick, Farewell MTC

Sorry, don't get me wrong, I love the smoothness and efficiancy of the hybrid system and the simplicity of the the mechanical parts, just a bit surprised about the stuff you need to get it all working! But it does work and as you say Toyota have been making hybrids for decades.
  2. Bye Bye Maverick, Farewell MTC

I’ve sold the Maverick back to the dealer I bought it from - for more than I paid for it. I got to drive a cool vehicle for 6 months without it costing me anything. But it’s too big and I don’t need a truck. My first time owning a hybrid, I learned a lot about the technology (much of it from...
  3. Is the Maverick 'L' mode the Same as the Prius 'B' mode?

I know we have members that have owned Prius's (Prii?) and Mavericks, just wondering if the Prius 'B' (Braking) mode is the same as as using the Maverick's 'L' mode?
  4. Spare Tire Winch

I'm sure I saw somewhere in the OM that it is recomended that the spare tire winch is opereated periodically. Makes sense - you don't want to find it seized up when you need your spare. I really don't want to unpack all the tools to do this, the illustration looks like it's a square drive on...
  5. Autostop eliminator harmful?

Didn't know they had that feature, when I'm driving and auto I always put it into neutral when stopped, even the Mav Hybrid - I know the hybrid does not have a torque converter but somthing is dragging and releases when you switch to 'N'.
  6. Autostop eliminator harmful?

I don’t like having an engine idle, basically it’s trying to displace thousands of liters of air and fighting against a closed throttle (diesels do not have a throttle and idle a lot more efficiently). Disappointed that my Mazda CX-3 does not have automatic stop/start, my old Mazda was a stick...
  7. i accidentally made this thread [NO POLITICS, NO OFFENSIVE POSTS, NO NSFW]

Soup of the Day is cream of yesterday🥴.
  8. Do you recommend adding weight in bed for winter driving

If you do add weight make sure it is located within the wheelbase. Over 50 years ago I was driving , too fast, in my Mini Van with a large toolbox right at the back - learned about 'polar moments of inertia' the hard way on a twisty road in Wales.
  9. What is that little speaker like thing on top of the A pillar by the driver side?

Sloth Mode: They smell bad, and are mostly skin and bone with little in the way of nutritional value. So they're largely ignored by predators. They don't eat much or bother other animals, so they aren't usually seen as a threat or competition by the other herbivores either. Their whole survival...
  10. Protection for door bottom plastic ?

I need to try that, I didn't realize that I was scuffing the rubber seal on the door sill by draging my size 12s across it. I notice on my Mazda CX-3 the seal is much better protected.
  11. The door broke😮‍💨

Can't tell from the pictures but has the check strap bracket has pulled or pushed away fron the door frame? Not sure that this is relavant to this discussion but I tried disconnecting the door check on the passenger side to see if the door would open further - it doesn't there is a stop on the...
  12. Turbocharged Hybrid?

Ford are using it on the 1.0L EcoBoost mild hybrid.
  13. Turbocharged Hybrid?

Ford say they can use larger turbo's on hybrids because they can use boost from the MGU to reduce the turbo lag.
  14. What is the benefit of rear sliding window?

When open it improves gas milage by reducing the low pressure area behind the cab:rolleyes::LOL:.
  15. Hybrid Engine Heater

I remember these things: Leave it under the car overnight with a blanket over the engine - all warm and toasty in the morning:eek:.
  16. Maverick in body Shop.... no parts to be found! Please tell me why???

At least you don't have to worry about the high voltage battery going dead:).
  17. Morning cold startup for hybrid motor

I'm not so much concerned about cold starting with the hybrid, I always back my vehicles in so that I am not manuvering with a cold engine and can drive away immediately. Then warm it up by driving, that warms the transmission, power steering etc (I know the Mav drives off under electric power...
  18. RIP Bender, but it saved my life

Good to hear that you are OK and the Tremor is replacable. Hope the insurance company treats you fairly. I had a similar experiance last year - I bought about the last new Mazda CX-3 available, my 'perfect' car, only to have it totaled by a wrong way driver with 3K miles on it. T-boned on the...
  19. New Truck - Touchy when creeping

I had the same poblem - make sure 'Brake Hold' is off. Seems to creep OK now, maybe I just got used to it.
