There have been rumors of a PCM update or one of the last recalls (instrument panel illumination or turn signal) and someone mentioned a bug but thought it was with the PCM.
Anyways that is good info. Would you mind sharing when you did the original turn signal recall update ?
At self service car wash you are most likely spraying water into the mesh inlet under the hood (which you are allowed to do) on the cowl and in general spraying a lot more volume around that area. Its all related to volume and reaching above where the seal isnt intact.
Id take the cowl off and inspect that guard piece close up and make sure its even completely installed. I actually took took out my cabin filter and could see those two metal clips shown in the picture engaged (they engage on the bottom). Upper portion has the hooks which I can't see because...
Dang, sorry to hear. You'd think by now this would be a non issue. It's something with the cowl seal. Not sure if it's a parts or an install problem. If install, your at mercy of whoever installed that day...
I really need to test mine as it stays garaged.
Was the water pretty instant to see or...
Have you had ANY recalls / service done recently by the dealer ?
Reason I ask is because a lot of people are having somewhat similar issues after getting some software updates at the dealer.
If not, then you'd be one of the first /few with issues such as that one on an ecoboost.
Find a new dealer.
$200 if they can't find the problem ? Obviously water inside your cabin IS A PROBLEM and just because they can't find the source shouldn't be your problem.
Also what year ?
10k ? For a 1kwh battery? No way.
Used are going for 1k, OEM hair over 2k.
Let's use the 2x rule for labor and your at 4.
With hybrid popularity expect many speciality hybrid shops who do Toyota, do Mavericks as well.
By the time we will need these, I won't be surprised to pick up a new or...
With so many BCM updates I wonder if the order on which updates are done matters.
For example, if you were to do this one first and then instrument illumination and turn signal later, would that potentially cause concerns
Just saying, but I'd go over your body work for dents real good. Depending where they decide to push from, might leave you with a mild dent.
Sorry to add to your worries.
unbelievable.
11 recalls on the 22
7 recalls on the 23
4 recalls on the 24.
Guess its trending down but dont worry, refresh in 25 will bring new bugs and things will reset back at 11 or more :)
edit: 7 of these recalls at least on the 22's are for FMVSS regulatory items !
I suspect the more you update, the more room for errors. Fresh built trucks I assume are loaded with what you would call the latest "full" software. Ones in market get patches / updates to whatever they have.
There have been a ton of rumors as to which update caused the issue but two most...
You mean that Ford would design such a vehicle where an internal combustion engine could run after removing the key just so it could charge the battery - while parked inside a garage ?
have you had the battery cable overlay done ? long shot, but assuming your vin falls within that issue it could potentially cause some electrical issues.
Too many software updates to varying modules. Not enough testing to see if all updates / modules communicate nicely after the fact.
End result is what you see.
Latest recall (loss of power due to undetected low 12v) will complicate things even further I think since that and the recent post...
