You don’t have to be an expert or in your words a “ford engineer” to do a drain and fill but I’m sure there’s plenty of driveway mechanics on this site that have had alot more experience in said task than I did at the time of doing it….
Bad day?
My brother use to work for Ford and after some...
Thanks for the tips guys. I ended up getting close to 5 in there after I had it running and up to temp, starting trickling out around that point. First time doing it so I’ll know what to expect next go round. Just glad I was at least able to get the same amount back in as what come out.

Been putting it off but finally had some time today to do some fluid changes, changed out RDU, PTU and did a drain and fill on the trans.
RDU and PTU were pretty easily done but I had a little bit of a head scratcher when it come to the trans fluid. Granted this is the first time I’ve done this...
Might just be the wording but this doesn’t sound like this is pertaining to the same issue that the thread is about as the noise isn’t a grinding noise at all, far from it actually.
Has anybody done this on their Mav? Was debating on dropping in some maybe a week before I do my next oil change. Just curious if anybody had any experience with it on this motor. Supposed to remove a lot of carbon buildup.
Skid plates are only available on the FX4/Tremor models. I actually skimmed through the Ford build website and didn’t even see the option for the FX4 package on the 26 models.
So it doesn’t have the button on the center console on the 25s to change modes? If not that’s very inconvenient and a huge whiff to have to do that on the menu. Probably can be a little dangerous to fiddling with it while driving.
It doesn’t seem to be a problem with all Mavs, just random ones. The poll looks like 1 out of 4. At this point though we really don’t even know if it’s a problem or not.
It’s gotta be AWD system related. Can’t be transmission related because I’ve read people with hybrids state theirs makes the noise and the transmissions are completely different. Also had a couple people say they had their RDU units replaced and it still did it. I’m not so certain it’s somewhat...
It’s a phenomenon for about 25 percent of the Mavs that were polled in a post a few months ago, mine does it. I guess time will tell if it’s something that’ll be problematic down the road or not. Plenty of people have this issue though. Or maybe it isn’t an issue, who knows.
