I'm probably going to have some overlap in home ownership so am thinking more of just moving smaller portions at first. Then get a smaller U-Haul for the last bit. I want to avoid the mistake of just packing up everything I own, including stuff I no longer need. Washer/Dryer, yes. Old...
I probably drove my F-150 about 3000 miles/year the 10 years I owned it. It is still in use by my friend. Had some engine work but still working at 29 years old.
I'm at about 4600 miles on my Maverick at nearly 10 months.
In the past, I drove my pickup considerably fewer miles in a year than my car. Not as convenient to drive, and much poorer fuel economy.
Instead, I drive my Maverick more than I expected. It is actually my best fuel economy (the hybrid) for in town driving by about 10 mpg over my sedan. So I...
I really wanted, not needed, the 4K option. But all the uncertainties with regard to the tariffs last March, I just bought an XLT that the dealer had available in my color. Benefit of hindsight, I could have just ordered the model I wanted for an extra $8000 (Lariat, ACC, etc). But my XLT...
Highly likely to be buying a new house in another city this year. An F-150, with it's larger bed, would make it easier to carry stuff a truckload at a time to the new house.
Of course, it would have cost more, or I would have had to buy a 2018 or so to keep my cost down. And get worse fuel...
I haven't had service done with my current Ford dealership in over 10 years when I still owned an old F-150.
I bought my Maverick last April, so will be needing to see how they work now. They have an option where they can come and pickup my truck, so I may take advantage of that so I don't...

The tried-and-true gas engine still has its place in the Ford vehicle lineup. And beyond traditional internal combustion technology, there's also Ford EcoBoost®. EcoBoost engines combine...
I believe by definition the Ecoboost engines by Ford are turbocharged.
The hybrid Maverick, for instance, doesn't have an Ecoboost engine and isn't a Turbo.
I chickened out because I was too smart. At least in this case. To drive through running water. I was thinking more about what if was deeper than I expected, and the water pushed me off the road.
I had a road near my house a couple years ago. I was driving an AWD SUV at the time (before my Maverick), and there was a section of road with water rushing across it. Probably no more than 6", but who knows for sure. I chickened out and turned around.
The next day I drove that road, and...
Possibly an EV, if you don't know your long term plans and tech changes.
If I was to buy a BMW again, I would consider it. Not gambling on expenses past the warranty/prepaid maintenance period.
But I've never leased. My current vehicles, a 2024 sedan and 2025 Maverick, are purchased for the...
For me, it is likely that my next vehicle will be at least 8 years down the road. I currently have 2 vehicles under 2 years old, including my 2025 Maverick.
But with 2 vehicles, I'm likely to replace one when the time comes with an EV. And use the other one for my road trips.
A PHEV isn't quite as critical for my case, where I get nearly 40mpg on my 2025 hybrid Maverick. But for my car, which only gets 30mpg, it would be appreciated.
Too late now, with 2 vehicles under 20 months old I don't expect to be in the market for quite some time.
Traffic laws can be weird. Not supposed to speed to pass. But in many places you can get ticketed, in theory at least, for impeding traffic if you are going the speed limit and you have 5 or more cars behind you and you don't drive faster or use a pull out (2 lane highways, for example).
For a pickup, my main alternatives were an used Frontier or an used Tacoma (which was also on this list). Bigger bed, which may be useful for me once/year.
The 4K/AWD Maverick was my desired option, but I didn't wait any longer.
The Maverick drives better to me than any other pickup I've...
To me, the only downside of AWD is higher tire expense, since you may have to replace all 4 if one goes bad, slightly lower MPG, and since more parts more that can go wrong.
And if I could have safely waited earlier this year, I wouldn't have settled for FWD on my Maverick. But at least my...
Many people are scared of the potential costs to replace the hybrid battery. I decided I was more willing to trust the hybrid than a turbo. Though my other vehicle has both.
My previous turbo I owned for nearly 10 years, never had a turbo issue. But had an expensive diesel related issue...
