  1. [Quick Survey] Got a tire inflator? Tell us what's missing

I think my next portable charger will have a battery option, preferably one that can take some commonly available battery and not one specific to just that unit. I made the mistake once of inflating all my tires once off my car's power thinking that it wouldn't matter, especially since there...
  2. Accuracy of dash mpg readout

I added a column to my spreadsheet that divides the claimed mileage (which I track) with the calculated MPG. At any given time, either one can be higher than the other. Especially if I fill up with only a smaller amount, such as 3 or 4 gallons, variations of when the pump turns off can throw...
  3. No 91 octane fuel in my area

Even though, at high elevations, 85 may work I wouldn't trust going below the octane specified in my owner's manual. If emergency use, such as that was all that was available until you got to a larger market, as little as possible so you can dilute it.
  4. Hybrid vs gasoline

With my 2025 Hybrid FWD, out of 21 fillups I've had 3 times I averaged over 40 mpg (calculated, not the computer showing), and 3 times under 30. The low ones were highway miles with about 100 miles of it at 80mph. My overall over almost 13 months and 5800 miles is 34.8 mpg.
  5. Hybrid vs gasoline

It must be driven regularly on the highway at 45-55 mph then. My hybrid only averages 34.8 mpg over the 5800 miles I've owned it. The ecoboost is only rated for about 23 city/30 highway so you are exceeding the rated gas mileage by about 50%. So not doing the things that hurt a non-hybrid...
  6. Hybrid vs gasoline

One thing to keep in mind too is that turbos aren't as unreliable as they were decades ago. It figuratively seemed everyone with a turbo ended up replacing them. But earlier models in cars at the time, and the cars tended to be performance oriented vehicles. My car is BOTH a turbo and a...
  7. Hybrid vs gasoline

I guess you have to compare it to the cost of replacing your turbo at 100,000 miles.
  8. Got broadsided by a deer this morning.

    Built Ford Tough? :)
  9. (Article) The Feds Plan To Start Diluting Gasoline (E15)This May

That may be very similar to mine. I think a year after I bought it they upgraded it to spin the blade faster or something. But I'm not going to replace my mower every year. I only replace my old Craftsman mower after about 15 years because I was having issues with it after many reliable...
  10. (Article) The Feds Plan To Start Diluting Gasoline (E15)This May

I also didn't want to go through the extra hassle of maintaining the gas engine for a trimmer, etc. And it seems that something else stops working properly at some point with a trimmer, so I want to limit my overall up front cost. Though I've gone through a lot of batteries through the years...
  11. No Toyota Compact trucks in the future.

Learning something new is a good thing. I didn't realize Nevada by at least 1 definition is the most mountainous. But I've never driven across it. Just in the area between Reno and Yosemite. As well as around Las Vegas up to Death Valley. But maps of the US don't show a lot of green high...
  12. Rival Santa Cruz to be cancelled

I'll have to grill them. I suspect they wanted the less truck like look, an a more premium interior. If I could have bought my old F-150 back, it would have been good enough for occasional use. So it wasn't as important to get a premium interior for me at this time.
  13. (Article) The Feds Plan To Start Diluting Gasoline (E15)This May

When I mow weekly, the battery can last the whole yard. If thick then I have to take a short break. Which is often a good idea to give me a chance to cool off and get some water.
  14. Rival Santa Cruz to be cancelled

Just found out today that my sister and BiL bought their first new truck. Went with the Santa Cruz Limited. So I guess I'll get to see how it rides compared to my Maverick. Due to lack of interest by the staff at the local dealership 15 months ago, I never got around to test driving the SC...
  15. New Hybrid use of Cruise Control

I varied speed on my road trips during the first 1000 miles. Didn't hurt.
  16. (Article) The Feds Plan To Start Diluting Gasoline (E15)This May

Luckily several years ago I bought a battery powered mower. And started doing my own mowing again last year. Not as powerful in tall grass, but it is working out for me. And I don't have to worry about gas gumming up over the winter.
  17. Replacing my Rav4 hybrid with a Maverick hybrid - I'm not sure what to do

I had a truck for about 10 years, and sedans coexisting for longer. Truck wasn't getting good mileage, and I kind of switched to a nice crossover as my "combo" vehicle. I got tired of that vehicle after nearly 10 years and getting expensive for service (BMW), so replaced with Toyota sedan and...
  18. Thank you, great explanations and now I understand 🙏can it really go nearly 25 miles on electric only

Thanks. I sometimes have a pedantic mind and I saw what looked like a whole in the information provided. The BOTH option. Not exclusive.
  19. Thank you, great explanations and now I understand 🙏can it really go nearly 25 miles on electric only

The Maverick shows total miles and electric miles. What I don't know is whether that electric miles is electric only. If 20 miles electric and 60 total miles is that indicating the ICE was only on for 40 miles? Or is there some overlap during acceleration where you get power from both? So...
  20. Hybrid Battery Rundown Solution - Battery Tender ($55 total) w/Installation Photos

Luckily I haven't had issues with my 2025 yet. 51 weeks in. I often don't drive it for a week at a time, generally alternating my 2 vehicles. YMMV, especially with the reports for earlier year's battery issues.
