Congratulations! 😊
I guess it might be time to retire your Fairmont moniker and add a little Cyber Orange pizzazz. 🍊
By the way, I had an '81 Mercury Zephyr coupe once upon a time that was pretty much the same car. Those cars may have had a plain jane reputation, but mine remains to this day the...
My first car was a powder blue '72 Maverick, pictured below circa 1980....next to some guy I hardly recognize anymore. I think it's the hair that's throwing me off...it's been gone nearly as long as the car now. 😉
A lot of people here are giving the car a bad rap, but my Maverick was always a...
The engine needs to start sooner and run longer when it's cold outside to get up to operating temp. So you can expect a noticeable drop in gas mileage in the winter months as well....especially if your morning commute is fairly short.
Funny can also mean strange, you know. And I found it to be a pretty strange and therefore funny...coincidence. Either coincidence, or karma was just messing with him. Took him right to the edge before letting him off the hook. 😜
Ah, so Grade Assist happens all on its own when conditions warrant. I guess that was more than just engine braking I experienced. It doesn't seem to hold you back much on really steep grades, but I'm sure it's better than nothing at all.
Thanks for the links. I missed those somehow. 👍
I find myself using low in town more and more often. It's a really great way to take the guesswork out of whether you're getting max regen. The only concern I have is the lack of brake lights. It slows you down almost as quickly as regular braking, so I'll typically resist the urge when somebody...
Agreed. Yes, when you are new to a technology it can be fun and interesting to observe and discover exactly how the system functions. But once that is done, I don't see any value in obsessing over it forever after. Now I just sit back and enjoy the ride. 😎
Really great to see this. I know it will make a lot of people very happy. The only problem is that although I experienced this a few times in the first few months, it has all but gone away now. And I'm not sure if I should consider getting the patch or not. 🤷♂️
Interesting...but now I'm even more puzzled by my own observations. The first stretch up to the Parkway was at a nearly steady 65....and the lowest real-time reading at the top was 41.5 MPG. Even accounting for the highly optimistic on board computer that's way higher than I expected. Oh...
Are you kidding? Even driving AT the posted speed limits leads to bad behavior from some drivers. 😉
Jokes aside, I do always stick to the speed limits. It's just that there a very few highways I encounter around here with limits over 65.
And I'm with you. I won't place saving a few dollars above...
Yep, the Parkway can be kind of a slow slog, but if you're not a speed demon it seems to provide just about the best conditions for max hybrid fuel efficiency.
