I can't wait...and I am not buying till next Spring.LOL.
Seriously, I want to hear owner opinions...
Surecritic has 50 owner reviews now on the Santa Cruz...and they pretty much says it is an "awesome" vehicle...Sometimes I look fondly at the SC...then at its MPG.
One concern I have is...the shortest route to take on a necessary weekly drive has two freeway approaches with short ramps and merging lanes...so how is the acceleration? Can you merge w/o drama?
(The only road review of the Mav I have seen noted the 2.0 is slower than the Santa Cruz 2.5T.)
Would be funny if mamboman 777 was a Ford electrical engineer.
BTW, every time some says "in house" I cringe. Remember when Ford parted ways with International and did their in house diesel? Can you say DISASTER?
Yeh...still undecided between the SC or Maverick. But because the my township's compost dump is so cratered and rutted, I am liking the SC's cleaner underbody...I w
ish that had made comparisons between the Sc's and Mav's ride comfort and seats.
"Small" is key. My last full size (2012 Tundra) required a stretch and hard reach to get things out of the load bed.
And trying to park it in newer lots was a real chore. (Apparently, about ten years ago, new parking lots adopted 8.5 ft wide spaces in lieu of 9ft.)
I think both Hyundai and Ford will be surprised at the buyer demographics.
One video road test on YT called the Santa Cruz a "perfect GGV." (Grandma Garden Vehicle.)
Still very much considering a Santa Cruz. Love the in- bed trunk, (and somehow they got a spare tire under it!?) bumper steps and general layout.
Now the fastest selling vehicle in North America..
Be interesting to see if that is true in 5 weeks or so...
I don'y know about after market cruise...for example, Four shops (not dealers) have told me that no one makes a reliable aftermarket cruise for my 2006 (3.0 engine) Ranger.
Wish you luck.
Yeh...That bothers me. A primary duty (as it is now with my 2006 Ranger yardtruck) will be runs to the compost dump . I bring dead plants, leaves, weeds-and then bring back their great (free) mulch. BUT the surface of the dump is very rutted and has small rocks embedded in the mud. My Ranger...
It does seem late...Surecritic has 14 reviews-all 5 star reviews on the Santa Cruz. I was very surprised that many people loved the styling. At forst I was repelled...but it is growing on me.
Well the hybrid is now unobtanium.
What amazes me on prices is...18 months ago I could have bought a Ranger XL for $23k. Passed on it.
Still use my 2006 Ranger Sport as my yardtruck. It works. And I get lots of "nice truck...want to sell it?" Don't think that would happen in the stripper XL.
A guy on the Santa Cruz forum reported getting 33 mpg driving his awd base engine SC from CT to DE. All expressway/turnpike.
It's not hybrid territory but better than any of my current three vehicles...
I hope you are right. But after the Bronco hard roof disaster I worry about quality.
If the quality is good and no design gremlins
(eg, like the TFL guys sit on the tailgate and it collapses) it will be an absolute winner.
That, the tailgate damper (I now have a really problematic back) and the AWD with base engine are what have gotten me interested in the SC.
Oh..and the bed steps..good for less nimble people like me and wifey!
I am not sure, but believe that the Maverick XLT AWD and SC SEL with base engine are...
My current yardtruck is a 2006 Ranger Sport extended cab....so I feel your pain.
But what to do? Even the "midsize" trucks are big. And Ford is going to grow the next gen Ranger. Of course.
I don't understand. Everything has to get BIGGER without an increase in utility. When the new gen GM...
