  1. Ecoboost minus the turbo?

I have this weird hobby, you understand, about watching old commercial blocks that focus on a particular day, network and year and you see a great deal of things you now realize were interesting but back then were a waste of time. Now I don't give a hoot in hell which specific vehicle people...
  2. Ecoboost minus the turbo?

Interesting. I had a discussion with someone about the same thing. Right off the bat, the commercials we see today are swill. The automotive commercials are nothing like they used to be in which you were pulled in and made you feel as if you had a horse in the race. Iococca was in commercials...
  3. Ecoboost minus the turbo?

You serious Clark? Ever drive a turbo charged vehicle that stops making boost? Good luck with that one.
  4. Fast Mavericks upgraded turbo

If it does fail outside of warranty, what does a new unit cost? I remember what a transaxle (from Ford) cost in 2000 for a 1996 SHO and it wasn't cheap.
  5. First Cobb Access Port!

If I remember correctly, mine had (Subaru) a number of tunes for varying octane levels (91, 93, etc..,), valet, etc..., Get as close to the octane level as possible w/o going over.
  6. K&N Cold Air Intake System Installed

Normally it is dyno'd with everything else and I don't think I have ever seen a car show or anything to the contrary. The last thing I saw (somewhat relevant) was an older Hot Rod TV (Spike TV days with Joe and that other guy) in which they ran an Astro Van before and after (hypertech, exhaust...
  7. K&N Cold Air Intake System Installed

What I'd like to see would be an everyday owner taking any intake and dynoing it before and after. Companies have it in its best interest to show good numbers but how about the layman?
  8. Fast Mavericks upgraded turbo

I'd be more worried about the clean looking, quiet '22 and up WRX rather than a clapped out 20-year-old, beat to hell STI but that's just me. Then again, there are other things worth worrying about than a Subaru but again, that's just me.
  9. Fast Mavericks upgraded turbo

The most recent STI's were kinda heavy though and I recall a few hundred more than a base, no nothing WRX.
  10. I upgraded the sound system in my 2025 Maverick XLT.

Do you need to keep the seat in an upward position? I'm not into audio whatever but I wouldn't be opposed to replacing the door speakers with a better option if the install was simple and didn't require splicing or cutting. Plug and play. When I was a kid and I bought a new base model 1995...
  11. Help me decide guys. - credit score

1.) What are the rates on the house mortgage and the car loan? 2.) How high or low of a score do you have? 3.) When I paid my hose off four years ago (17 years early and I was thrilled) my credit score dropped a good 20 some points the next month, but those points came back in no time. Me...
  12. 2023 Climate Control Defugalty

Watch your mouth! Wild Turkey is a hell of a lot cheaper and more easily accessible than seeing a doctor! Believe me, I liked the days of a vertical lever for the blower speed followed by a horizontal level for temp and a/c and another for where the air flows! I guess simplicity is a...
  13. High idle on brand new 2025 maverick with 2.0 ecoboost engine.

Have you ever owned a vehicle with direct injection prior to the Maverick? IMO, my Ecoboost is quieter than two other D.I. vehicles I have owned.
  14. 2023 Climate Control Defugalty

    I'm a self-diagnosed masochist, I guess.
  15. 2023 Climate Control Defugalty

Just an update: Before I started this topic, I did make an appointment with my dealership, and I did take the truck this morning. The mechanic asked me what was going on and the overall consensus was that climate control on these things can be very wacky. I was mainly concerned that a coolant...
  16. 2023 Climate Control Defugalty

Good question. Now I don't normally use AUTO at all but when I clicked it today, the car was comfortable, but the air just seemed not warm enough for the temp. 70 degrees should be warm, right, and much more noticeable than say 65 degrees, yes? Edit: Thanks Glenn. I did see 72 in the owner's...
  17. Gave away Maverick today on The Price is Right

From your lips to God's ears. Remember the 90's (or was it 80's) P.B. issue with the model from the show Janet something or another?
  18. 2023 Climate Control Defugalty

    Good answers so far. Thanks.
  19. 2023 Climate Control Defugalty

I may try the auto setting for the heck of it. Clearly, we know what is supposed to happen when the controls are set to auto but what if you don't go that route. Let's say you forgo the auto setting and set the temp at 71 degrees with the blower on two, what exactly is happening? Is the air...
