The driving position feels lower than in my Forester, so it's a no go. One of the appeals of a truck to me is a nice high perch. Mav isn't a small vehicle, but it's the smallest pickup besides the Santa Cruz.
Ford doesn't need to up the price. They let you option the car and almost double its price already. They want the marketing bullet point of starting under $20k.
They're not going to play the supply demand curve - they have stealerships to raise them to insane prices to artificially slow demand.
Random tangent: the 2013 CX-5 was the runner up in my search when I went Forester lol. The deciding factors were a worse approach angle on the CX-5 and I hated how pushy the dealership salesmen were. No regrets :)
Bought my Forester in it's first model year after a major redesign, I have no hesitance for adopting new models, especially ones that repurpose many components like Mav.
I'm aware of the timelines, was being cheeky. :) Still wouldn't want to be a hybrid order holder... Unless I planned to resell and had the purchase price etched in stone.
Very glad I decided not to go for Mav, the new Ranger will be my forever truck. More spacious, more tech, more capable, and subjectively better looks (and fog lamps, woo!) The wait will be long and arduous, though.
Bet I get my '23 ranger before some '22 hybrid Mavs :P
Saw an used first edition bronco marked up by the price of a loaded Maverick yesterday, lol. https://www.maverickford.com/used/Ford/2021-Ford-Bronco-gladwin-mi-9b2d70930a0e09a8428d49062f471720.htm
My cars have all been females thus far and are usually named based on their color. My first truck is different - it'll be named Wildtrak and be genderless. Ford marketing made me fall in love with that trim name and I'm co-opting it
A crossover makes more sense than the Maverick for most use cases, but it depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for a capable hybrid and aren't married to extreme budget or flexible baby trucking, that's what I'd recommend. (Especially if you live in a snowy climate that demands AWD)
