  1. Stabilizer Bar links

I’m always quick to complain about Ford OEM parts and their dismal failure rates. It’s refreshing to give a callout to a product whose parts I’ve used on a multitude of vehicles over the years with success. Hats off to MOOG, a good product at a reasonable price. I am in no way associated with...
  2. Stabilizer Bar links

Can an Engineer explain to me the thought process behind encasing a steel ball in a plastic housing? I’ve replaced the front links last year and am now in the process of replacing the rears with MOOG greasable steel links, and they are cheaper.
  3. Griot's Garage synthetic clay bar

Never used this particular product but I’ve used Griot’s products for years, especially love their Speed Shine. Great lubricant for Clay bar and polishing pads.
  4. My low cost battery trickle charger / tender installation

Nice clean setup. I’ve never had power issues with my 22 EB and recently Ford swapped out my lead acid for AGM so I would think l’m good for awhile longer. I do like that setup though. My smart charger does everything from trickle to jump start, just hook it up and it tells you what’s...
  5. Removed the B pillar vinyl wrap and polished out orange peel

I’m not going to try to prove you wrong, I’ll get the denim pads since it clearly worked wonders based on your pics. I have 2000 grit sandpaper which I use wet for scratch touch up’s but the denim pad sounds great since it can be attached to the Porter Cable. Now it’s a matter of me getting my...
  6. Removed the B pillar vinyl wrap and polished out orange peel

I don’t have the exact materials you used. I have a multitude of foam pads in varying abrasivenes and I use Meguiars 105 Ultra Cut followed by 205 Ultra Finishing compound, pads lubricated with Griots Speed Shine. I think I’ll give t a try.
  7. Removed the B pillar vinyl wrap and polished out orange peel

Damn that looks good! I have a black Mav. I also have a Porter Cable orbital and most of the compounds/pads that you used but sadly I’ve yet to find the time or energy to detail the truck let alone concentrate on the pillars. That’s what happens when you get old. Great job and it looks fantastic.
  8. This trim seal strip seems to have fixed my dash rattle.

I agree. It does not have to be the case. I spent the last twenty years as a manager at a vinyl manufacturer which makes the plastics in the Maverick, it’s why I bought the damned thing. We offered anti-squeak topcoats and cold crack formulations. Dodge/Ram accepted, Ford refused due to cost...
  9. This trim seal strip seems to have fixed my dash rattle.

I don’t understand your question. Are you insinuating the rubber strip will expand and break your windshield? It will not, it’s rubber, windshield is glass, vastly different expansion rates. Are you curious about UV detiration? I assume it’s the same as all the other rubber/plastics on our...
  10. Did brake calipers change for 2025?

I just took a quick look on Rock Auto and the Motorcraft part number for 2025 differs from 22-24. How they differ I do not know.
  11. CEL after over filling tank, anyone else?

Has happened to me on past vehicles as well. Huge annoyance having to kill codes. What is the point of forcing more fuel in? Trying to get to the nearest dollar amount? Think you can go another day without fueling based on the extra 2 ounces jammed in? Fill it till it clicks, you’re full, it’s...
  12. What to put on door handles so you can see them at night

Braille. Feel the glass and run your hand down until you sense a protrusion, this is likely the door handle.
  13. This trim seal strip seems to have fixed my dash rattle.

I’m going to give it a try. Dash noise is nil for me during summer but winter is coming. The cold weather always brings crackles and rattles from my dash. If noise is coming from dash/windshield contact this should work. If it’s coming from elsewhere maybe it will at least dampen the noise...
  14. Is the Mav the best vehicle and value you have ever owned - hybrid only responses.

My best was a loaded 2011 Charger RT after I added a 3.91 Mercedes AGM rear end and a tune to make it all work. Previous to this was a 300C. Loved the Hemis but the Mav is a fraction of the gas. I don’t need to go that fast anymore, I miss being planted in my my seat everytime I touch the...

gjallen3, you’re not allowed on this forum.
  16. Problem with Ford hard roll up tonneau cover

Go the warranty route as previously suggested. FYI, I have the same tonneau (it is BAK) which had a similar issue at the other end of the box, it was just past warranty. I smeared a product made by “Gloozit”. It’s marine and rv adhesive. It’s still holding, flexible, waterproof and transparent...
  17. Signs of CV Joints Problems

Brian_J, as I recall the total up charge was between $300-$400. The left and right were differently priced (about $75 difference). Keep in mind this is CAD$ which is disgustingly overpriced.
  18. Signs of CV Joints Problems

That’s precisely the symptoms I had. However it was at 30k miles and I have a 1” levelling kit which some believe exasperates the problem. Waterick is correct, it’s very uncommon for CV’s to fail at 5k.
  19. Signs of CV Joints Problems

In my case I felt a vibration at 20-30mph upon normal acceleration. It wasn’t until I had them replaced that I realized I was having an issue at higher speeds as well. So smooth now. I didn’t mess around with part numbers, questionable upgrades, etc., I simply demanded and up paid for Tremor...
  20. CV axle fix MIGHT be coming soon

With all due respect, which is more than you’ve given me, I bought this vehicle off the dealership lot used. It was already leveled by previous owner. They assured me the balance of warranty was valid regardless of levelling kit. Ford Corp., apparently disagreed when my CV problem arose. The...
