I think the difference with the Ranger and the Maverick is that there is currently a Ranger for sale. There's actually an incentive to keep things a bit under wraps as announcing the EXCITING NEW MODEL could cannibalize sales of the model on lots now. If you think that the Maverick competes only...
I don't know if you'd say I've lost interest, but the longer it is before the reveal, the more likely I am to go with an alternative. I tried to buy a cheap, used off road capable SUV a week or two ago. Had it not sold first, I'd probably have been out for the Maverick and just replaced my van...
We will see if Ford does something similar to what they just did with the F150 lightning, where they announced a model that is much cheaper than anything else and right below a cut off point (in this case 40k), but then offered no details about it and all the models with actual specs that appear...
I was wondering about that. It's what I initially thought, but it looked a bit different from some of the earlier twist beam shots I'd seen (and from the implementation in my Transit Connect), but it very well might be.
Edit: Going back and looking at the later pictures of the twist beam FWD...
The rear shock mounts look much lower than those on the Bronco Sport. I wonder why that is. Do they need more space for the bed to sag? They certainly look like the lowest point under the truck in that picture and only maybe 6-7 in off the ground.
I disagree, though not exactly in the same way as TerryE. At this point, I think it would be unprecedented for a company to not bring a product to market because they want to see what happens with a somewhat similar competitor. I think we're just seeing either what was planned all along, or a...
The standard CRV gets 28mpg in the city. The Hybrid gets 40 in the city. If you do a lot of city driving, that's a big difference.
On the other hand, as the battery barely kicks in when driving a consistent speed on the highway, the difference is only 1 mpg (34 vs 35), so it you drive a lot of...
I think that this says it best. I grew up in a hilly, rural snowy area. My hill was dirt growing up and not a top priority for plowing. It involved a probably 75 degree stop/turn at the bottom. I can count the number of times on one hand that we couldn't make it up the hill in our FWD minivan...
Yep, at this point any refinements in design that aren't emergency fixes are likely being added to the list for the midcycle refresh a few years from now. Auto design has a really long lead time. They might be able to make some smaller changes with the parts spec, but overall design has likely...
I basically want the same Maverick as you, but just to clarify, the Santa Cruz can be optioned with 18 in wheels for a more off (dirt) road focused build.
I think the question is whether a 35k Ranger will be more capable for what an individual wants to do with it. Will it be more fuel efficient? No. Will it handle as well on road? No. Will it be more comfortable? Likely no. Will the back seat be more comfortable? Probably not. Will it be as easy...
I've really enjoyed seeing all the different things people want in a vehicle and I too hope that it ends up a Swiss Army knife of a truck.
I think the 2 door Wrangler is still likely to be much smaller than the Maverick, though. I suspect that the Maverick will be over 2 feet longer than the...
I'm hoping for a little longer bed in the Maverick. That would be a selling point to me. I am also curious to see efficiency and ground clearance numbers for both.
The Hyundai Santa Cruz was just released. It is 196 inches long with a 4 foot bed (4 feet, 4 inches at the bottom, 4 feet at the top). It has a 1300lb payload. Efficiency and price numbers aren't yet released.
So there is the baseline for the Maverick's most obvious competitor.
Even though it only takes a minute, I still prefer to avoid taking my front wheel off. If it's just one bike I think just tossing in the bed makes sense. I think hanging bikes over the tailgate makes more sense when you need to fit multiple bikes.
I live in a town with a trail system people...
Two reasons: First, modern bikes are pretty long, especially if you're on a larger size. A lot of bikes won't easily fit lengthwise in a short bed truck. Now you can probably wedge a lot I'm by turning wheels and going diagonal, but it's more of a pain, particularly with multiple bikes. Second...
