    Shim/bucket drive trains have been around a long while. Had it on a '98 Tacoma 3.4L engine. That was a quiet engine and easy to check and correct clearances. The main cause of wear is oil change interval not adjusted for the way you use the vehicle. Steve

    I'm in the Pacific Northwest, and do mostly short trips of 20 miles or less in town with rare highway driving, so in my particular use case, because the intermittent operation of the engine often does not get it to high enough operating temperature for long enough to "boil off" crankcase...
