The trick is to do that part first and slide it in from the very front and work it around. Took me a little while to figure that out.

I used the pre-wired 12V accessory plugs (there is one on either side of my XLT).

The device wasn't pulling any amps aside from the LED light so don't think that would be the case in this test. It also was exactly 1 hour and 30 minutes when it shut off.

There are 2-3 grommets but they have wiring harnesses going through then and I’m running coax for ham radio and cb equipment and you’re not supposed to run them near each other as stray RF can sometimes effect car systems. The location I’ve chosen is far away from all other wiring.

Ok got them and installed them ;) I think (using my well trained ear) the road noise is decreased, engine noise no change as far as I can tell.

I think a dark metallic is the way to go but I haven't found the just right color yet.

Ok picked mine up today. Doubt it's worth the $80 but I'll shoot some photos and video of putting them in and I'll try to see if there is any difference on noise.

Went to dealer and asked about insulators. Their team looked at build docs for XLT eco and said not included in build and they showed me the image/diagram so not a warranty issue. So I ordered them. $80.
