All true...right up to the point of the battery. The battery pack is a massive cost driver for an EV. For example, if you have a 70Kw battery, and the cost of Lithium-Ion batteries is about $125, you are looking at a cost of $8,750 for the battery pack. The industry is trying to drive that cost...
If you don’t believe that the market doesn’t exist, do some quick research on Wikipedia nad Google and then some simple math. For example:
In 2010 1,632,530 trucks (of all makes and models) were delivered in the United States
In 2010 Ford Delivered 528,349 F-150's
In that same year Ford...
And while we are at it we can yell into the wind about:
Manual Transmissions
Affordable 2 seat sports cars
T-Tops
Roll-down windows
Landau Roofs
Bias ply tires
The market has moved on. The reason they stopped building 2 door compact trucks was because there wasn’t a market demand. The truck...
My daily is a 2021 Subaru Legacy
I also have a 2013 Toyota Van
My wife drives a 2014 Subaru Crosstrek
I also own a 2007 Subaru Outback that my college age son drives
For fun I also own a few motorcycles. They are all custom, so they kind of defy make/model designations (except the Yamaha) so I...
So I just read-up and watched info on the Santa Cruz. My initial impressions:
- It looks better than I thought it would. Less origami looking and more cohesive.
- The under floor storage AND roller top cover are brilliant
- I hate the 10" Primary Instrument Display.
- I hope the under seat...
Yes, if that works for you in your situation, then that is what you should do. But the title of your thread is just wrong as it only applies to people who live where it doesn't snow, or if it does snow the land is flat. I've never has the luxury of either.
Yes, I would say we do. First of all the Maverick is being built on the C2 platform, a platform that has spawned an AWD Escape and Bronco. Secondly, we have seen photos of production Mavericks (the trucks we have seen in the last month are early production models) with a rear differential...
I'm a bicyclist, so I'm well aware of the grades on the local and county roads. The county roads in my area can reach 12% grade (I know of many that have short stretches of 14%) and the local roads can see 16%. On these hills (and in my own driveway that is 1/4 mile long with a max grade of 12%...
Nothing beats AWD/4WD in the snow when you live in hilly/mountains. If you are stopped on the up side of a hill and begin to accelerate, the weight shifts to the rear of the vehicle and unloads the drive wheels of a FWD vehicle. I will never own another FWD vehicle again (and haven’t for over 20...
I wouldn't be surprised if the Maverick has some tailgate trickery up its sleeve, such as a tailgate extender when the gate is in the down position. That could extend the useful surface in a folded-down position from ~60" to ~78".
I’m now seriously considering a Tacoma TRD Sport with 6-speed manual. I’ll wait and see what the Maverick offers, but if there is no manual option (and I doubt there will be) I’m gonna get me a Taco. Yes, it’s more money, but nothing beats a manual.
