The info I could find about sodium chloride on aluminum was that while aluminum does not rust, it changes the color. That said, if I lived in an area that did not have snow, undercoating/ rustproofing would not be a concern.

When looking at manufacturers sites, the pictures show a significant difference. I was unable to find a standard brightness measurement units to compare with. I’m going to as my Ford dealer what they recommend and go with that.
