Lift is known to hurt MPG and raise the center of gravity (increasing rollover) for those contemplating it. Also, since your axle stays the same UNLESS you go to a larger tire, it does little for road clearance. Not to say "don't do it", just mentioning the factors to consider along with drive...
I don't think that the seafoam would help, since the gas is NOT sprayed into the air stream hitting the back of the intake valve. Rather, it is sprayed into the chamber - the whole reason for the problem.
Surprised that $500 repair bill comes easier to you than a few preventative measures, but to each their own...some folks trade in at that mileage, but my tight-wallet car budget is just hitting second gear...
Looking GOOD! I faced the same issue with my Maverick, and added the top of a Silverado shell, overlapping the Mav roof and sealing with door seal foam. The issue with water from the roof is a puzzler. Other options on the "possibles" list are a fold out section for feet, or a diagonal bed...
While I agree that he may be good to go, IMHO, there is nothing that would "polish" the crank. It sits on softer babbit bearings, ditto the con rods. If the crank is "rough", it can increase the bearing/crank gap and "COULD" cause problems with clearance, lubrication, and oil film...
Thanks for the procedure posting. Looking at the F150 procedure either my ancient memory had it wrong or two things seemed to be in a different order, with no telltale flashing as shown in the (wrong) video. Good tip about the backing adhesive too.
LOL ! A man after my own heart ... :-) I do love the quest for better mpg, not because we can't afford it, but, hey, it is a small planet and we need to do what we can without the Government protecting us from ourselves. I put a top on my Mav that is level with the cab (from a fiberglass...
Because I picked up a "screech" in my driver side rear wheel, I removed the back LEFT tire to investigate. Because these trucks have an ELECTRIC parking brake, one must first put the truck in brake maintenance mode. Lots of youtubes on this, but FYI, at least on my eco non-hybrid, there was no...
Montana,
Mine is 4x4, but with the fiber pan. I am sure lots of us would trade you if you have the metal skid plate. If I have the correct mental picture of that plate, you could still do the mod.
As I said, no problem with those who want to drop the pan for whatever reason. If you should believe that frequent oil/filter changes are a plus, (and want to reach up and feel around for leaks or parts that fell off), then here is a way to go about it. To each Mav-ster his own!
Bob, the removable plates come in all sizes. I think that mine is 8 inches. I have small hands, but wanted to be able to remove the oil filter while holding it. Also, I want a big enough opening that I can reach around and open the oil drain valve.
No problem with a little disagreement on this.... if you don't mind pulling all those connectors and dropping the cover, have at it. One twist and I am there, but to each his own.
I used the Fumoto: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DBB96PJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
But it will not clear to install without the extension:
adapter ADP-137
Here is a tutorial: (I just grabbed one...there are several, and I didn't watch this one)
I had several of these access plates, and decided on the larger one. (You know the monkey trap where he won't let go of the 'OIL FILTER' in the jug :) ) and have it unscrew to the TOP, and slide out of the way, maybe on an attaching cord so it can not vibrate loose and fall off. Your call....
